I would kill to get a video game themed map. Like a Zelda themed map, you could use the Twillight princess map:

yikes! that is HUGE but still a badass map

Greven,

Two things.

1) The map could be shrunk and/or truncated where necessary to fit within the size guidelines.

2) And this is the REALLY important one. See that copyright in the top left corner.
Nintendo wrote:All Rights Reserved

They would probably not allow anyone else to use this image "for profit." As lack charges money to play on this site - Nintendo would want a cut of that. Nintendo would want either a per play model or a per month model or a per user (site wide) model.

a) Nintendo probably wouldn't go for a per play model (not enough money) - also means lack loses here as the same 4 people could play 100 games a month on this map (no extra for lack).

b) A per month charge would probably be the best, but it would be tough to find a middle ground of what an average interest map brings to the site in terms of money - and how much of that Nintendo would want/should deserve

c) A per user charge would map nicely to premium membership. Alas, there are going to be far more people who don't play the map than do. I'm guessing the only map that everyone [or nearly everyone] on the site has played is Classic

I've determined that searching for the word "Oz" is a futile task

Has anyone started work on a Land of Oz map? It could be just Oz

Or Oz and surrounding countries:

There are more detailed maps out there as well. The good thing is that most of these images have entered public domain.

hehe i found someone with this post about halfway through the thread, and i dont know if anybody has replied to it or not, but if not then yes i have started working on a lands of oz map

So here's the deal. I liked the idea, so I took a shot at a Korean Peninsula map. If anybody wants to use this map, be my guest, but give me some credit, I suppose. I apologize for the lack of quality in this map.

Someone should do something with the Punic Wars. That'd be amazing...

Well, there were three Punic Wars. It could add to the recent trilogy craze for someone to start one up. I'll keep this in mind and help promote the idea. :)

Good idea!

I know, but even just Roman Conquest in General would be cool.

Idea, what about sperm / egg where there are seven countries, six player countries and a central neutral egg that starts with 100 units? Just an idea I find to be hilarious.

[Okay, very crude idea, even cruder map. I was going to figure the area values, but it's after Midnight, and I have to get up before six, so here's the link.

Comments appreciated... if anyone thinks it looks like fun, I'll work on it some more.

(I am sure there will be comments on the Board Room. Armies within cannot attack out, but controlling the room will allow for bombardment downward, to quite a few areas.)

I hope this link works, been a few years since I putzed with this my tripod account.

That is definitely an interesting idea.

This is similar to WidowMaker's Cruise ship idea (in terms of the tiered levels). So, you (or someone graphical) could definitely do it. That's a LOT of little continents.

I like the fact that you included Foyers and Elevators and Stairwells. I think you need to add a few Hallways - to help separate the territories and provide better access points. The main foyer should be white to agree with the other foyers (all 1 continent or not part of any continent).

The Water coolers are funny (in a good way). It was tough to tell what the SCs (Supply Closets) are right off the bat.

I love the cubicles in Engineering - need more of those for the first floor.

I suppose the Board Room should be able to Bombard the Corner Offices and the Water coolers.

I'm working on your suggestions, but it's not easy. Not sure how to implement the hallways, and there really isn't room for any cubicles.

I did make the supply closets bigger, so I could fit the name inside, and I added a few potted plants, just for the heck of it.

Is a lot of tiny continents good or bad, in your opinion???

(NOTE: I updated the site, so the link in the first post will show the newer version. No sense bogging down the forums any more then I already have.)

Can't believe I'm still up, putzing with this!

As far as cluttering up Map Ideas, that's why it's here - for links/threads about map ideas. Make a thread that uses the img tag n the original post so that people can see the updated version of the map in the first post. Also, keep archived copies in that thread so people can see what changes have been made (and those that have been overlooked or turned down).

I like the changes. It's still a little on the big side.

It's up to you (the mapmaker) how many terrs and continent bonuses you want. It's going to be easy to build up armies (all the small continents) - but very difficult to conquer the map, much like World 2.1

Luckily I think I still have to original, so I can put them both up. The actual size of the file is 800X800, it's just expanded on the site. I can fix that too...

Any thoughts on the legend info? Curious if it's too generous, or too cheap...

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I will dig in more soon. I wonder if I should theme it to match The Office...

I love that idea!!!! We can have semen flying all around the screen and falopian tubes and ovary bonuses! it would be awesome! Then there could be like a birth control that makes you lose armies OMG this has so much potential! Ima try and make something on photoshop and send it to you!

GFY Map

GFY Map

I would like to see a GFY map.

There could be territories on the GFY, and random teleportations territories so it doesn't become so one-way. The top left part of the Y and the top right part of the F would connect, and the bottom right of the G and bottom left of F connect.

Good idea?
