that is a great point max
i was thinking more along the lines of 4 player games, 2-3 newbs and 1-2 old guard
i would think the games would fill up fast to help limit deadbeating, but deadbeating is a part of CC so no time like the first game to learn about it for newbs.
along with keeping newbs from ruining regular games, my hope is that a little hand holding in the beginning might get a few more to stick around and be decent competitors if not friends

If you take away the point xfer, you're depriving a winner who expended energy taking out those troops, and essentially not penalizing those deadbeats for sucking at life. I'm against it.
maniacmath17 wrote:I'm not sure what the exact numbers are on this, but from my experience, a majority of new recruits that join public games end up deadbeating. A lot of them never come back to the site, so they arent really being penalized and the only result of taking away their points is that the winner gets points he/she didn't really earn.
Is it possible to not award points for beating new recruits that deadbeat? I agree with the new rule since we can't have experienced players deadbeating on purpose if they start off with a bad position. But I've never heard of a new recruit that cared enough about their 1000 points to trying something like that.

Terrible idea. If you're playing someone who has a brain, and is new, and he's quite quick and catches on. Then, oh no, he starts losing. Knowing he won't lose points if he deadbeats, what do you think he does?

Considering how often that is likely to happen, and the fact that anyone could only do it 5 times (at most), I would say that's not much of a problem.

Probably just another restriction on new recruits...

I ONLY support the no points IF and ONLY IF:
- 2 player game
- noob plays 0 rounds.
that's it.
if you take away winning of points, i will NEVER play a game with a ? again. Any that joins my games, i will drop.
Why bother?
I think others will feel the same way, and you'll get NO new members because they will never get a game going.

This suggestion would NOT stop you from winning points from other players. Just from any new recruits who were kicked out for missing 3 consecutive turns.

i understand that.
but in a 3 player game, if the new guy deadbeats, it puts a significant sway one way or the other sometimes-- effectively changing the game.
2 player and he never plays, sure. no points. i'm cool.
3+ player and 1 newbie deadbeats, he still loses points and i would gain (if i win).

Kahn wrote:as far as deadbeats go in a team game I think that they should have to pay the total team cost in points. Also any points that the team may win should be split up with the remaining members. None to the deadbeat they just interupt the game they need stiff fines for so doing. This should apply to us all.
Peace through strength
I AGREE 100% on this.... deadbeats should take the hit in team games, its nearly impossible to win if you have a deadbeat in a doubles game.....

New recruits can't join team games anyway. This suggestion has nothing to do with what the last couple people were talking about.
