What happens in the case of a points draw between third and forth place?

An extra qualifying match between the two (or three) teams with same points seems to be the fairest solution to me.
Any other ideas?

Works for me, as long as that is defined before hand.

Rather than go right to a playoff, you might want to try and break the tie by looking at who won more games...

That could have been done, if I had defined it at the beginning of the League. However, we have only 2-3 matches left and it won't be fair at this stage to take "won games" as criteria.
For the second Round I will look at the matches between those two (three) teams and count the points of that matches specifically. If they are equal, then look at won games in total. And finally, if also won games are equal, play an extra qualifying match.
Here is the decision
for the first Round:
Those teams with equal points will play an extra match.

Subject: A third reserve player for the Top 500 dubs league
Hi Selin,
In case you wonder what tournament I am writting about...I completed the header.
Thanks for the tournament and I am enjoying the format throughout.
Overtime, we find that players are hard pressed due to their work schedules etc making them take turns very late or even miss turns which ordinarily they don't. Of course their partners try to cover but even partners can be busy too.
To alleviate this problem, why don't you allow teams to have the option to appoint a reserve player who can join in a game or two when one of the partner are busy? If some teams don't wish to, it is alright as this is an option and should not be forced on them.
For this reserve player, I suggest that this reserve player must stay in the top500 before he joins any game to maintain high standards.
What do you think?

You can use a reserve player, if you are not able to join a match due to any reason. Prerequisite is that the reserve player is a member of TOP 500 at the time you nominate him. I will allow only
one reserve player, the other player has to be an original member of the team.
Anyone against this?

Usually, when a reserved player is allowed, there is a limit on how many games he can play. Otherwise he will become a replacement...
I'd suggest that at least 70% of games must be played by the original players.

That is a fine idea and a maximum of 30% for the reserve player sounds reasonable.

So I have a quick question...
would it be possible for some sort of poll of the advancing teams to perhaps switch out a map or two?

I have another suggestion for the next round.
I think if we play the no cards games in the beginning of the round, it would speed up the overall game process.

Selin just wanted to say that I/we appreciate the effort etc which you have put into the tourney , between the structure and the organization of it all I am sure it is more work than one would anticipate.
Thx again, it is enjoyable

Here is an idea or two.....
Maps to discard:
Brazil and US Senate.
For example, I think that the symmetrical US Senate map tends to be stiffling and reduces the scope for creative strategies.
Someone mentioned the Brazil map flaw ...about the fact that once a team controls that regional bonus at the bottom, it tends to give overwhelming advantage to that team. I agree with this assessment and this map is not suitable if we wish to minimise the element of initialisation as a factor in deciding the outcome of a game.
Maps to incorporate
Discworld and Tamriel.

Although I'm not qualified for Round 2, I would recommend all the Siege! map. It gives lots of opportunities for different strategies. Another alternatives could be Great Lakes and Cairns Coral Coast.

Siege is nice, but with so many bonuses, a lot tends to depend on the drop... and we already have a map like that (KotM).
But I think swapping Cairns (which is a fantastic map) and either great lakes or san francisco for Brazil and Ancient Greece would work quite nicely.
I don't really have a problem with the symmetry of the senate map.
