The second Q is great. But when he pauses and says, "a third Q" - I lost it.

This thread is a joke. A sad, sad joke.

Dim, you have sunk to a new low.

actually coleman why won't you move this map forward?

i have the proper size i have a few updates i have met all the requirements for a movement. the only thing remaining is interest on this map.
so far some people say they'll play it and others say it's a bad idea.

as the creator of this map i have to give valid reasons to any negative feedback. i have given valid reasons so far both regarding the possible point system collapse and the potential players problem. the map won't screw the point system and it has a market. so what else remains to be done for it to be moved?

just because you as a player don't agree with it doesn't mean you as a CA should stop it's development. that's not professional.

greetings.

while i would not play it myself, i think this map concept is both interesting and would be popular. one practical use is as a tiebreaker in tournaments. i cannot see any legitimate argument that it would distort the points system... except possibly if people are stupid enough to create freestyle games and someone wants to spend all their time waiting to be the last to join. and losing points for stupidity is fine by me.

the only legitimate argument against this map i can see is that it doesn't fit the mission of the site... the intro to the "Instructions" do say "Conquer Club is a turn-based strategy game..." as opposed to a pure luck-based game. having said that, i'm not sure who is endowed with the proper capacity to make a call about whether a map is in conflict with the site mission other than the site owner(s). particularly when it almost certainly would be significantly more popular than a lot of other maps.

That's really the meat of the problem. I actually think it would be fun or at least funny in certain situations, but people are bound to be dumb and play it without checking (they do it all the time). :(

call it "100% Luck"

That would work if it was the only problem, but than you have the whole mission statement of the site, the already slight fragility of the ranking system, the overwhelming content our top contributors have for it, and so on...

unfortunately so, hopefully though, people aren't bound to be dumb enough to quench it.

EDIT: oh wait. i forgot about doodle earth.

Even Doodle Earth requires a fair amount of strategy (I know you think it doesn't but my record on it shows otherwise), but this map wouldn't.

WidowMakers wrote:1) Just because it is played does not make it good for CC. Points on CC are supposedly there to help gauge a players ability to play the game. Yes there are issues with how it is handled. Single, double, triple, freestyle, no cards.... These all affect the score but hey all have something in common.

By adding this the points become more meaningless. Ranks and badges are useless.

I agree. I play Doodle Earth (no cards) specifically because it looked to me like it was based on luck the least. I have now played 14 games on Doodle Earth and have not lost a single one. That's hard to pull if it's all luck. So WoF would be very diffeerent. But if I'm wrong, and I just got lucky on DE, then that just goes to show how much of a possibility that the same would happen on WoF... to people who are intentionally trying to inflate their score beyond their skill level.

If this map was a part of ConquerClub when I first learned of it, I would not have joined.

I think he's fully aware of that...

Now lets stop posting in this thread so it can disappear and be forgotten in the annals of CC history...
