24 passes caught in a game? Shit....

My guess would be Jerry Rice, but he ain't in the hall of fame yet (to my knowledge), so I'll try Steve Largent (and no, I haven't the foggiest idea where he went to college :D )

Also, I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb and guess that do5 is not familiar with the comedy stylings of george carlin.

Finally, the first post now spells out in very small words the point and mechanics of this thread. Please make a note of it.

Id like to apoligize, my stupid trivia book has a typo. I believe the question is supposed to say "future" Hall of Famer, and yes it was Jerry Rice. Sorry my book is dumb, as am I...

Lacrosse is a sport, just not one that we can ask trivia about, because there are very select people who know anything about pro lacrosse. It would lead to alot of looking up on google, etc, which we're trying to avoid.

So because you didnt know it, you looked it up? Isn't that what you were preaching against? Anyways, on topic, that is weird

I don't know the NBA one, but my guess would've also been the spurs...

And GK, your answer to why lacrosse is not a sport is considerably more diplomatic than mine would have been. :D

New quote:
Who held the record for base hits in a season before it was broken by Ichiro a couple of years ago?
Bonus of # of hits and year accomplished.

<yoda voice> That is why you fail. </yoda voice>

oops, fastposted, that was in response to ole' mister.

Ty Cobb is incorrect. But time-wise you're in the ballpark, so to speak.

naw mate, i didn't answer the question, stealing it from people who might actually know it. nothing wrong w/ looking it up long as i don't ruin it for others......

and ichiro broke george sisler's record, i believe.

bonuses i'm not sure, i'll say 1930 w/ 232 hits

T'was indeed sisler, but it was 257 hits in 1920. :D

ok since we're running 2 questions at once now, i'll go ahead.....still curious about GK's, though.....

only 5 MLB players have hit 100+ homers in their first 3 seasons of play. name 3.....

bonus: one of these players also holds the single season RBI record for a switch hitter. name him......

Neph, id like to see that source you had for the Finals question if you could... I cant find anything online showing NBA finals record, except in my book...

As for your question, ill go Ryan Howard, Alex Rodriguez, and Bonds, going for the most recent players. I cant think of any switch hitters at the moment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nba_finals ... ppearances

that's where i got it. there are 5 teams w/ a 0 in the loss column.

ryan howard wasn't on my list. i guess that's b/c he is in the middle of his third season. but he does have over 100 homers already, so he should count, although not "officially" until the end of this season.

I'm gonna guess that Mantle is the switch-hitter in question.
