I just thought of something... making the 1-station train bonuses being paid independently brings some new problems.

For one, now these stations will each be a one-territory +1 bonus. This is fine as I can just up their neutral count. But it kinda bothers me that they end up more powerful than the oe stations... but I can live with that, the OE still has the objective.

For another thing, Servia becomes very problematic. When you capture Belgrade, you get the train bonus of Servia, but if you hold Belgrade, Vienna & Budapest, will you then get train bonuses of both countries? This is something that would very likely confuse players.

So... Unless anyone has any better solutions, I think I will have to keep the "paid independently/with land only" scheme.

Thanks dan.

So, how does the new bonus scheme look?

I'll tally up the figures here... the usual format, territories-borders-bonus (bonus with autodeploy in parentheses.)

France: 9-3-4(5)
Italy: 7-3-4
Low C: 4-4-3
Switzerland: 1-1-1
Germany: 12-9-8
Austrohungary: 13-11-10
Servia-MN: 3-3-3
Romania: 3-3-3
Ottoman: 9-3-5(6)

Now, both Germany and Austrohungary could be raised by 1 or 2. Perhaps increasing both monopolies by 1 on both countries would be appropriate?

I guess I'll do this, if nobody has any conflicting opinions.

looks pretty solid my suggestions are:

Frances land bonus should be raised up to 3 making it a total of 5(6) (I am aware that it was that way in earlier versions)

I also think Romania should be dropped down to 2, maybe Servia as well.

Hm. You really think so? Dropping romania & servia to 2 each, to me it seems a little low for something with 3 borders...

Oh btw that table isn't totally accurate anymore, as you can see in the latest image I raised both Germany & Austrohungary by 2.

As for france... are you suggesting to raise the land or the train bonus?

Just the land bonus.

natty, maybe you could change in legend "Belgrad belongs to both Serbia - Monte Negro and Austro-Hungary" to "Belgrad belongs to both Serbia & Monte Negro and Austro-Hungary". just to folow names of Land Monopoly.

Well, looks like this has been sitting long enough. Let's give it two days for a final sweep.

Um... It looks like the 'N' of "OTTOMAN" is partly cut off?

I guess I could move the text a few pixels.

Thanks Bison.

For now I'm trying to get Lunar war stamped for gfx, so I'm primarily working on that one, but as soon as that is done I will concentrate more on this map...

Currently, I'm looking for inspiration to redoing the legends. I know they are a bit inadequate and don't reflect the theme too well.

I'm not totally satisfied with the land territory font either, it doesn't look good on the legend... I should try to find something that looks good both on the legend and on the map itself.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post them.

A couple of quick suggestions:

Since all your names are in English you should write Rome instead of Roma.
Servia? :?
Write only Reggio Calabria,it's better. No one uses reggio di calabria, it's almost exclusively "a wiki thing" because in italy we have 2 reggio (reggio emilia and reggio calabria) ;)

One thing leaves me a really perplexed... reading the title and then looking at the map it's hard for me to associate the steam...the orient express...I think that there is a lack of connection between the theme of the map and how it is (not) represented graphically :-k

I don't know. I was thinking of going the other way, that is, converting all names to local languages... :-k

Servia? :?

Well, the 1863 map of Europe that I traced had the country written as Servia. I just assumed it was written that way at the time so it transfered here...

Good advice, it'll be shorter too ;)

Well, Age of Steam is the map pack name... in case you don't know there will be 2 more maps coming, each focusing on a famous railway, around the same time (late 19th-early 20th century.)

As for thematic consistency, I fully agree, the map needs something more graphically to fully integrate the theme into the map. If you have any suggestions let me know :)
