I thought you wrote those after it was final forged?

As for writing the xml i dont know how to figure out the numbers for coordinates or what numbers I should be looking for

and while i'd like to fix the spelling mistakes I dont know how I would because of the simple reason of i lost the original psd file when my harddrive crashed and i'm just working off a jpeg that I took from this exact thread.. so the txt is flattened in.

What other ideas are you considering for mountains? And rivers? Have you also considered making the ocean feel less like a playable surface (As it blends in with the rest), perhaps by toning down the color, diluting, or adding some sort of gradient effect? Perhaps you can do something similar with the neutral areas surrounding also.

I dont get what you are saying.... when I had my ocean and neutral territories differentiated.. you said it looked like a floating map. now you're saying they arent differentiated enough?

I'm saying look into different textures for the nonplayable areas. One texture for everything, at least on this map, doesn't seem to fit very well.

This is my latest update..

I tried to hit what you said on the head, did I do it.. or at least a better job?

99% in the right direction Reverend, I think. Doesn't it feel more like an ocean? Or at least, a nonplayable surface? Maybe even look into doing more with the neutral area. But I think you are on the right track.

I tried to do more with the neutral area, but it didnt really ever look different without looking so different it didnt look like land, but hey at least I tried.

Change either the colour of the Brittany territory or the new sea (perhaps make it much darker), I like the new sea a lot, but the two colours are too similar.

Also the rivers/mountains still look pretty bad.

Gameplay wise, I'd think about reducing centre bonus to 5, but other than that it seems perfect.

i like my rivers, but I'll see what i can do mountain wise.

This map is looking pretty nice, still needs a little bit more work, but it's nicer than others that I've seen.

I cant do that bit more work if you dont tell me what it needs.

Just "work" isnt specific enough unless you would like me to write work acrossed it, or in the corner somewhere. Or someone laboring..which would make sense with it being a france based map.

I was just about to speak about making Brittany a darker blue, or perhaps if you swap it with Als. Or maybe even consider using a blacker grey, but that might just be confusing, and not really go with the light colored theme. I think the a darker blue is the betst option.

Also, perhaps reducing Centre to 5 would be a good idea...consider you can limit your borders easier (than Burgandy of the same value) by taking Loire Atlantic.

I also agree the rivers and mountains stink. I am not sure what you can do for them...right now the rivers feel like oil stains in the parking lot, and the mountains look like...goodness knows what...

Regarding the mountains, try to eliminate the 'straightline' and right angles...they seem unrealistic I think.

Regarding the rivers, I think you just need to play around with it...and look into connecting the river near the ocean...to the ocean.

About the army shadows, I'm not a big fan of solid color ones. They seem to look like splotches on the map...try to make them look more transparent.

Might want to clean up the borders slightly, some need refining, especially in the Northeast.

Alright...and two more points.... It looks like a few of the names are difficult to read. What is the country next to Cote du Nord...to the left? Cote Du Nord is also a little cut off...take a closer look at the country names, perhaps darken the color slightly. Also, what the heck is the red spillage near Haut Rein and Bas Rein, in the neutral area?

Lastly, where are you putting the title? Top left? What are you considering there?

that reminded me, what I did in that update is I changed the colors of the 2 2 point continents alsace and brittany... I transparencised the army shadows a bit to make them less solid colored.. got rid of the red splotch.. and made the rivers match the ocean.

I wanted to get approval on them before fixing the bugs they caused.

Personally I like old mountains better, I feel they had the same sort of effect as North America, and werent way over the top and would love to bring them back.. any other opinions.

Hmm, those mountains look familiar.

I don't think these new ones or the old are the way to go.

I think something needs to be done with where the rivers edge border a territory. Maybe just a thin black/dark blue line on the edge?
