Correct.

Yes, this was the direction I was leaning towards as well. But then how many can I set up at once...4, 5, 6 games? As I said I want this done over an 8 hour period. There can be no turning back, no second thoughts. I am a point-whore of the first order...it has to be fast and me ideally drunk. It is rather like having an operation to fix a hip. You know the operation will hurt like a bastard but you also know you'll be walking better at the end of it.

No, don't setup a bunch, just join speed, freestyle, 8 man ass doodles. The games typically go two rounds and last about 10 minutes, some are over literally in 5 seconds.

Also you could just play a bunch of 1v1's on doodle, setup public speed doodle 1v1's. You'll get random privates and sergeants and loose points fast.

Playing either of these you could loose hundreds of points in a few hours. With the 8 man you could also get lucky and peak over 3,000 for a little bit, although this is unlikely.

Good question that. I must just point out that drop-wise I've had little chance... ;)

Play maps you're bad at, or haven't even tried, and use your worst settings. That way, you would be dropping, cuz major is still high, and it IS legal. Like, when i was sarg. 1st class, going on to LT, i started joining other, more "fun" games, and i found myself a private... And you would drop even more because of your high rank. Besides, other people (myself included) can only dream of being a colonel...in fact, the closest i've been is 420 pts... that's still a long way off...

What I'm saying is that, if you have a skill and a high rank, you should be thankfull...

My only solution would be to do what many of us do: play 1v1 sequential. Almost a guaranteed rank killer. Of course, this could be true only because of my poor ability, but, if you would like, I can set up 10 1v1 sequential/casual games and even if you end up at 50% you should have some fun and you will lose some points.

Cheers.

As my inbox is already filling up with game invites that I can but guess come from lowly officers scenting free points, it seems the word is out!

The trouble is that I know me. I actually HATE losing points: a long drawn out thing over a few weeks and I'll either change my mind (or have a big win come in) and I'll be back to where I was. A while ago I wrote a thread about sticking at 2,500 and playing some speed classic flat. One week later I'm up near 2,900 because a few 8 man dubs games came through, I won most of the classic flats and I found myself even further away. I know, poor guy, but as I remember FabledIntegral writing here over a year ago "It is really hard to lose points." I think I probably mocked him at the time for being a pompous git (which he was) but he had a point on this thing. 10 1vs1's just won't do it.I need something extreme and fast. Why do you think people point drop? Yet I want to do it legally.

I may play a couple of those 1vs1's...but as I said, they aren't the answer. I want to drop 1,000 in an evening and I want it to be legal. Is that REALLY impossible??

i'm telling ya play a couple of ass doodle and your rank will start to fall

alex is right, best way to legally lose points would be ass-doodle

I think there are a few points here:

1. I think the journey is often more enjoyable than the destination. I absolutely loved CC when I was racing through the stripes and up to the major rank, CC was really fantastic fun for me then (about a year ago now). I think it was especially fun because I was playing my favourite style of game when I was doing it.

2. Yet to progress to 2,500 I had to adjust my game selection (overall) and play less large public standard games, so there was more 8 man dubs and trips. I think i'm reasonably decent at them, but they don't get the old blood flowing to be honest with you. I quite surprised myself at reaching the top 100 (I think I won 5 8 man dubs in a row + maybe a bunch of trips) and have spent the last couple of months maintaining at that level without any great difficulty but with sadly little enjoyment.

3. The trouble with gradually de-ranking by playing unfamiliar styles is that I don't enjoy playing unfamiliar styles. At all. Shoot me for my lack of interest in diversity but there you go. I like a few styles on a few maps and while some very nice people have partnered up with me on various other maps to give me a bit of variety none have really made me think "Ah ha! This is what I can do in 2010"

4. I really only want to play a couple of casual games at a time through this year (probably 2.1 8 man dubs) while mainly playing classic speed flat (4-5 man). Maintaining my 50% record at standard games while playing a game as unpredictable as that will be a real test for me in 2010...hence I'll find it enjoyable. There is no point doing that from 2,900 points; it is just ridiculous to play stripers over and over again and that level. There is no points in it, my equalitarian stat will go down the toilet and I am obviously a target in every game I play.

5. I am not in any way trying to devalue getting a high rank...though I know it might look like I am throwing away like trash the hat I (don't doubt) many right now are struggling to achieve. But the simple fact is that I got it, held it without difficulty and would never have lost it by playing as I do. I don't do variety well so there seemed little choice but to de-rank in this manner.

Anyway, about 500 points to go and as Ron noticed when playing me today I am really, really shit at freestyle speed. Too slow both in mind and with the drop down menus. I might have won a couple, but dodgy dice put paid to that and for most I was positionally screwed anyway...just in case anyone is considering a cheeky 'Point Dropping' Accusation!

Effectively I want to point drop back to about captain so I can play my favoured game style (speed standard, flat, classic 4-5 man) without being in the ridiculous position of gaining about 30 points for a win and losing 40 points on a loss. It isn't good for the map rank stats, but more importantly I get little pleasure out winning 30 points for a four man game and I just hate losing 40! Also the colonel is a rather conspicuous figure in such an environment and I'd rather play these games without having an enormous target over my head. In my last game I was suicided on and half his fun (after I thoroughly outplayed him) was to suicide me to see how many points I'd lose...38 in fact.

So I want to get back to captain and exclusively play speed flat and see if I can maintain captain/major against all ranks. I would enjoy my CC 2010 on this basis.

Yet the issue is how to do it legally. I think I am right in saying that if I challenged some cooks to 1vs1 games and let them win (which seems to me to be the quickest way to do it) I'd find myself with a thread in C and A again and this time I might actually be in trouble. If I set up a large bunch of 1vs1 speed games I would surely find myself in the same position...but what about if I actually made some effort to play 30 speed games at once, would I still break the point dropping rule? Couldn't I claim I felt I was intelligent enough (ha ha) to handle it? The other method (that I know of) is to go the doodle route and set up those freestyle 8 mans. But my issue with this is the time it would take (assuming I am only losing 20-30 points per game and waiting for games to start etc etc), but again, how many can I set up at once without being accused of point droppping? One final way would be to play a really top player at a style I am useless at (say King_H or Demonfork at City Mogul freestlye) and quite predictably lose 50 games in a row. I mean I would even if I was trying! But would that be legal?

It seems to me that all these ways could lead to an accusation of point dropping and a C and A thread, yet the simple truth of it is that I want to point drop! I'm not enjoying my CC at the moment (and haven't been for a while) and the reason is simply the inflated rank. I have little desire to push for 3,000, I can maintain where i am forever playing the kinds of games high rankers play yet, as I said, these aren't the games I want to play anymore. I want to get back to the madness that is public speed classic flat. I know most high rankers hate the style, but I've always loved it (it is the game I grew up on) and it is all I want to play now...but not from this rank.

So, what's the quickest, easiest, least time-consuming and LEGAL way to drop 1,000 points?

quickest way to lose points... play speed, doodle map, freestyle assassin games!

though... I... he who hath lost 3000 points on those puppies, just won my last two in a row :D :D :D

One was a gift, but the other one a sign, since there is no way in hell I should ever have had a shot at it.

The reason that those are losing propositions though, is because at my score, winning 2 out of 8 is necessary just to break even typically, so one would have to consistently win 3 out of 8 to gain in points, and while maybe someone out there can do that... realistically it isnt very possible or probable
