Been having lots of connection time outs lately. What gives?

Thats true... and your down speed speed of a file depends of the upload of the host... Having built your own computer is also not that relevant. To use the basic details I am running an i7-960 with 8gigs of ram I have a gigabit ethernet hooked up with 20mb/s direct and am not downloading (although not that important) not uploading (this is the bandwidth hog) or anything internet related other than firefox that is solely accessing this site. Yet persistently there is lag. I am not running background processess and I have an excellent line connection so the issue comes down to the site....

I know the owners want to make profit but come on.... atleast satisfy the customer...

Ive constantly had this for nearly 20 mins before getting on to CC, internet working fine for any other site

We'll get Lack to look into these latest Lag issues in the next week. Perhaps there are some performance tweaks he can do, or change some settings to make them more optimal for peak times.

At this very moment, the lag is real bad. I have to wait as I type in game chat or pm's. Even as I'm typing this, I have to wait for the letters to appear.

Hm, strange. I'm not experiencing any lag at this exact moment.

That is NOT a website issue. That's an issue with your computer. All the website is doing is sending the data ONCE. After your computer has all the information (text and pictures) then your computer goes and draws everything out. Text boxes and the colour of the boxes when you hover over them and things like that are all handled by your computer. However, once you hit the "Submit" button, however, then the server speed will take over. Such as, how long the next page takes to load and stuff like that.

Thats true, if there are speed issues outside of accessing the site ie. playing games or loading new pages then it is your pc that is slow, clean it out with something like ccleaner you will be surprised to see performance improvements and do a defrag, I hadnt done one for ages and was shocked with how bad my hdd was lol.

Currently the lag is horrible for me, was playing on city mogul and could barely do anything...

Does anyone know the total PAYING members to this site? The capital raised should easily cover the purchasing of say another basic server...

Highly doubt it, no other site has any issue with 3.5.7, right now I am getting a ping of 250ms from the cc site, thats pretty slow....

Yeah,i'm not having problems on any other site either,maybe it's just a coincidence that the lag appears to coincide with me upgrading a couple of days ago.

the site wouldnt load for me about 15 minutes ago, and i know it happened to my girlfriends mom in north carolina too

It happened here also. I thought the servers crashed for a moment.

so. if its not the site, and i had comcast come out and check my connections and speed, and they said it was ok, i did a ad aware and Norton, what else can i check to see if its me, i don't have problems on any other sites? but if its me, i want to know, who is the cc guru with all the brains to tell me what to check.....i have no cookies or temp internet files ....tell me please

Well.. there are number of things you can do that include scans

1. Run ATFCleaner (or CCleaner with 3 or 7 pass erase)
2. Run Norton (even though it sucks get a better anti virus!)
3. Run As-Aware
4. Restart Pc
5. Run Eraser Free space wiper (not necessary but always good)
6. De-fragment your hard drive with a decent program and not the windows built in one
7. Restart Pc
8. Check speed details with speedtest.net
9. Check line details with the ping test (link on speedtest)
10. erm.. probably something else to do, but this list seems thorough enough at the moment
11. Ping cc using command prompt, ideally below 100ms should be good enough, higher than 150ms and things get slowish
12. Erm... cant think of the next ocd style check to do... might edit this post when I remember lol
