OK, i will manage

If you sign a free agent, is it a standard 2 week contract?

The 2 week contract is set only for the auction.

When signing a FA, you can sign him for any number of weeks between 1-5 (your choice and it does not affect your chances of landing him, as highest weekly salary will always win).

Your initial post said maximum contract extension was 3 weeks. Is it 1-5 or 3???

Quote initial post:
"Extending a contract: before a player's contract expires, the manager may try to extend it up to a maximum of 3 weeks. This is how you keep your good players on your franchise."

Contract extension is different than signing a free agent. That might be where the confusion is coming from.
taking a break from cc, will be back sometime in the future.

Patrick's right. I'm still tweaking a few numbers to find the right balance.

I think I will go with "a player can't have a contract with more than 5 weeks remaining on it". That means a FA can be signed for 5 weeks, while a hired player with 1 week left can be extended 4 more weeks (making 5 the total: 1 under the old contract and getting the old contract salary and 4 under the new contract and getting the new contract salary).

The exception to the rule is the playoffs. If you sign a FA for 5 weeks in week 10, the contract would normally run from weeks 10 to 14. However, rosters are locked when week 14 begins, so this contract will be applied on week 15 (playoff semifinal) and week 16 (final) as well, landing the players for 7 weeks.

Small question but just in case - how do we show the player has agreed to contract extension? Post in here? They have to post in here? Managers? Both? PM?

Just want to be sure whatevers acceptable is arranged in the time limits. :) In case a player is off or away for a bit.

PS - Sorry for all the questions, someone needs to ask em and clarify :)

Don't worry, asking questions now is better than forcing me to make last minute decisions and seem biased. ;)

You can negotiate through any means. Thread, PMs, walls, MSN, smoke signals, whatever. I don't need to know about it.

I just want the confirmation of the deal. In order to express their agreement, they need to let me know. The proper way is through this thread. Managers also need to make the offer, so you'll ultimately need both parties confirming here.

Night Strike has just halted large teams tournaments from being created for a while.

This one, however, is grandfathered, so keep joining!

Love the concept. As if there needed to be more impressive and creative ways to get me hooked on this site.

Well done Rodion.
