Did they really blow up the Chinook with a grenade launcher? seems unlikely. I wonder if they got ahold of some sophisticated shoulder-launched AA weaponry, that would be a gamechanger in Afghanistan. That`s one of the main tactical reasons the Soviets got beat trying to conquer Afghanistan...

Unlikely (to hit a moving target), but not impossible (in fact, very likely with a good hit). Again you can easily hit a copter with AK but downing it with AK needs a very lucky strike. On the other hand, off course, the guys have some stockpiles of US made stingers but we will never know whether they used any of them unless someone in the military is stupid enough to leak it to the press.

IMHO, the military knows what hit the copter but the line to the press must be "a lucky strike with RPG" or "a tehnical malfunction"

Oh those gosh-darned terrorists just attack us for shits and giggles, huh?

And that's what happens when you join the military. You may be shot at or killed. If you think this incident is atrocious or sad and yet you still support the military, then you're fucked in the head. Basically you're supporting sacrifice. It's okay that they were killed in the illusion that they protect me, as long as I feel bad about it or "honor" them with nice little slabs of marble and glamorous words (whatever fucking good that does when you're fucking dead).
