Your list does not take into account the scores of other noob farmers out there.

The point is not to shame the farmers and drive them away from Conquerclub. The point is, everyone will have another metric to look at, one that shows who is competitive against good players instead of one that is a measurement of time spent farming noobs. The farmers don't have to care. Let them have their points and ranks. But everybody else will be able to instantly gauge who is actually good. You could click a button to rank everybody based on how well they play people their own rank. Farmers still get to keep their shiny medals so everybody's happy. This seems like the best of both worlds. Your game settings could be used to store which ranking system you want to sort on by default each time you look at the rankings.

Good Idea

Note: This is not good for players who have lowered in rank or gained in rank, me, I used to be cook, and only played cook, just last week I was a measly point off a hat, for me this would give the impression I play low ranks, yet relative to my rank it may be different

Another Note: I don't really care about that sort of thing.

Maybe this could be reset every once in a while for the people that jump in the ranks... Or it could be a percentage based on the # of new recruits you play.

I think a ratio of scores at time of game start is the best way to go about this. Then two metrics can be calculated, percentage of opponents greater than 2/3 your score and percentage of opponents less than 1/3 your score.

Click this link for the much more readable (COLOR!) excel version: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pDS7aRIBiu0f3bagoahBmHQ

Ratio of Scores

Cook Cad Priv Corp Serg Lieu Capt Maj Col Brig Gen Field
600 850 950 1150 1350 1700 1900 2250 2750 3250 4000 5000
Cook 600 1.0 1.4 1.6 1.9 2.3 2.8 3.2 3.8 4.6 5.4 6.7 8.3
Cad 850 0.7 1.0 1.1 1.4 1.6 2.0 2.2 2.6 3.2 3.8 4.7 5.9
Priv 950 0.6 0.9 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.8 2.0 2.4 2.9 3.4 4.2 5.3
Corp 1150 0.5 0.7 0.8 1.0 1.2 1.5 1.7 2.0 2.4 2.8 3.5 4.3
Serg 1350 0.4 0.6 0.7 0.9 1.0 1.3 1.4 1.7 2.0 2.4 3.0 3.7
Lieu 1700 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 1.0 1.1 1.3 1.6 1.9 2.4 2.9
Capt 1900 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.9 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.7 2.1 2.6
Maj 2250 0.3 0.4 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.8 0.8 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.8 2.2
Col 2750 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 1.0 1.2 1.5 1.8
Brig 3250 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 1.0 1.2 1.5
Gen 4000 0.2 0.2 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 1.0 1.3
Field 5000 0.1 0.2 0.2 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 1.0

Proposed Metrics
2/3 % of opponents played greater than 2/3 your rank (if this is high, you are very competitive)
1/3 % of opponents played less than 1/3 your rank (if this is high, you are a farmer)

If someone has a URL to post the image of the excel file to, I could email you the image that way everyone could see the table without clicking the link.

I think one thing that might make this viable is if it counted the last 30 days' worth of games - that would keep the people rising through the ranks happy, as it would generally reflect who they have been fighting recently, rather than some games in the distant past.

Inhuman, I ran with your idea but revamped it a bit, eliminating the alienating aspects of shaming players. I credit you with the idea in my suggestion. Please take a look and see what you think.

ive already suggested this idea and you may want to read the thread to see why it can't be done. It's how Chip's Map Rank came about with relative ranking. I think that's what the OP is after- Average Points of Opponents?

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=57658&start=0&hilit=average+percentage+of+opponents

chipv wrote:Love the idea but it's near impossible.

You need to work out every player's score at the time of the end of the game.

* As far as I know, there is no actual record of players scores at game end, all we have is the game log.

Using an extreme method it would be possible to work out for a particular player most of the points of opponents but
only when that player wins because the points lost and gained in the game log are all a function of that player's current score.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said when that player loses - you can only determine the winning player's score.

So really this would all depend on * and I don't see evidence of this happening.

Now if you were ok with using every player's current score rather than at game end then this is possible.

Average opponent's score displayed

by Master Bush
Concise description:
  • average opponent's score

Specifics/Details:
  • start displaying your opponents average score from the start of each game played against them.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • by doing this it will deter high ranking players from targeting new recruits. It would kind of work as a Scarlett letter of sorts

you can sort of determine it withought it; just look at a win rate compared to the score. over 70% win rate you are clearly farming noobs and you are not going for players with a similar level. also if you have over 50% and you are not even major, same conclusion.

If you have maprank, maprank a player and it shows you the players relative rank, which is exactly what you're talking about.

yep but anyone agreeing with this; the lower the win rate compared to a given score, the more credit I give to a player?

funny cause I say this and I do care about improving my win rate.

the poll was 24-4 in favor of it, and it went 5 pages, so why was it turned down?

Credit in which game? Depends how they been picking up their points. Can a master of the esc 8 player games cut it in a 5 player flat rate game? Maybe, maybe not. The with % means very little what you're evaluating your opponent.

Play against everyone like they're master and you won't go wrong... all of this win percentage and average opponent's score is meaningless.

wrong, but thanks for your input. if someone is taking advantage of new recruits, then their AOS (average opponents score) will reflect that. so when someone like gen.lee is sitting atop the scoreboard with a shit AOS, people will know how fraudulent his score really is. but im guessing that this is the reason why CC.com would never do it, in order to protect certain people who dontate money to the site, and are giving free rein to do as they want....... like our new "conqueror"

You don't need to be Einstein to work out that a guy with a win percentage of 81 has been picking on the little guys for easy wins, especially when you look at #2 32 points lower with a win percentage of 52.

But why care? That's my question, play your games whichever way you want, if you want to be petty and pick up endless easy brain head wins against hats to boost your rating fine, do that. Everyone with half a brain is going to work out who the best players on the site are, regardless of the scoreboard.

Plus think about what you're asking for and extra data that the site will be required to store to provide these records... it just isn't worth it. As long as the site is making money and everyone is getting what they want from their games everyone should be happy.
