Two things: First, I love the charts and tables and setup you have for keeping track of the results. It makes the tourney more exciting when everyone can come and see exactly where they stand, in relation to everyone else.

Two, can you explain a little more, what occurs in the first stage. Can you get eliminated? How do you get points? What is the purpose and what are we trying to do, other than the obvious and win games.

Thanks, this looks like a lot of fun.

I'm glad you enjoy this kind of setup and I really hope this will be an amusing tournament to us all. :)

As for the questions, first of all: the first stage. The players will play six "Swiss Rounds". Swiss rounds are a tournament type that allows a championship with many contestants to be decided only in a few rounds. Usually used in chess or trading card competitions before a playoff or a second stage. And this "Swiss" phase will consist of players being randomly placed in the first round, but, from the second round, winners play against winners, losers play against loseres. After two rounds, players with two wins will play only players with two wins, players with one win will play only players with one win, etc. It will be made like this until there is only one player with 100% wins.
If my explanation is too confusing, I hope this page will explain better :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament

The players will not be eliminated after the first stage. But at the beginning of the second stage, everybody keeps their points. If you lost all the games of the first stage, you won't be eliminated, but the most likely is that you will not advance, even if you win all your games in the 2nd stage. It depends on the points of the other players in your Division.

As for the points, 1 win = 1 point. :)

The purpose? Well, you are trying to get qualified for the world series (WS). That is, the playoff tree that will have the best players in this competition and that will decide the title. There are several ways for being qualified to the WS:
- You can win the first stage. If you are best among the 36 players in the six swiss rounds, you automaticall win a place in the Preliminary round of the WS.
- You can be one of the six winners of the second stage. At the beginning of the 2nd stage, players will be geographically divided among six divisions. The top player in each division will advance directly to the Quarter Finals of the WS.
- You can as well qualify via one of the two playoffs, if you are one of the best seconds in a Conference or in a Division.

I hope I made myself understand. If it's still not very well understood, please say so. :)
