Have you been nice to any of the previous owners?

How much is CC worth? Roughly..

Really hard to say. A few years ago (and I'm not even sure how many years ago) I tried to figure out how much CC makes. I went through the scoreboard, estimated the number of premium players, added a bit for things like the Conquer Cup, etc. I believe I came up with a figure of 160,000 for annual revenue. Then I tried to estimate its costs (which are even harder to estimate, since there's so many things we don't know) and I came up with I think 125,000, which would have made its before-tax profit 35,000 annually. When I was young and still interested in running businesses, I think the ballpark figure was that a business should be worth ten times annual before-tax profit, which would have made it worth probably 350,000.

Mind you, all these things are based on very broad ballpark estimates which could be way off. Plus, I don't even remember how long it's been since I made those estimates, so I don't know how much CC has declined since then. Since I've gotten bored with it and don't spend much time here any more, I'm not likely ever to update that effort.

I think a earnings multipliers like 10x is not out of the realm of possibility, but this type of math for tech companies is usually reserved for those with significant growth, considering the site is shrinking not growing I think a 1x or 3x earnings multiplier is probably more realistic. This multiplier math is generally justified through the question "how long till I recoup my investment", and with a shrinking site it would be more than 10 years not less at 10x before you can count on recouping the 350k. I think very few investors would consider getting your money back in 10-15 years to be a 'good' investment lol.

I looked it up and nationally(in the USA) the average business sells for around 0.6 times its annual revenue. That said for a tech company like this you would assume it would be higher. My personal feeling without knowing all the up to date numbers is CC is probably worth around 80-100k if it sold.

Can you put a price on the B-esus? It's a good point though, maybe Duk had it right at $350,000

Isn't it only like 1800 premium players? So I'm assuming it is much lower than that now.
