Pepperoni Bread I think your map making skills are really coming along, while I really dislike the look of global warming I like the look of this and your canada revamp alot. I'm glad you decided to make a map of the same style. I also really like the title and the legend font, and the hammer and sickle. I think that looks great. I dislike the mountains they don't fit with the map and at some points the outside border seems too thick to me perhaps making it thinner will be better. Other than that quench.

pepperonibread wrote:edbeard wrote:could you make the difference in colour from the lake and the western (eastern!) republics bigger? right now I look at the lake and that land and they look too similar to me.
could you increase the size of the legend font? Looks like you have some space. even 2 or 3 font points would be great.
How about the color of Kazahkstan verses the dead land? Anyone have problems with that?
I agree with edbeard here - at first I thought the republics had 5 terrs (especially since the name of one completely overlaps the lake).
Kazahkstan/dead land looks fine to me. If anyone really has a problem just switch the color with another region that doesn't border the dead lands.
As for connecting the islands, I'm dunno it might be a good thing to congest in the purple area ...
Very nice first draft.

Yea, put an atom bomb somewhere. lol. But to build off that, you may want to include a bonus for holding all countries where thry tested/Created Atomic Bombs. Just a thought. Anyway, looks sweet, Pepperoni. Kepp up the good work.

perhaps a faded image of lenin superimposed on the map? i agree that the dark blue republics need to be a different colour, not so similar to that of the sea.

Lenin wasn't very Russian. Wouldn't work. You need Stalin or whoever is ruling the empire at this time.

*ROFL*
Lenin was the one responsible for changing the system from a Czar (or Tsar) rule to a socialist rule (he did it in the early 1900s or 1910s).
So, yeah - he is just kind of a wee bit Russian. St. Petersburg was originally named Leningrad (or the reverse). My Russian history is playing tricks on me at the moment.

Lenin would work, but Stalin would probably be better, more people know him and he definitely ruled the longest.

New update:
Changed:
-Made gameplay changes unriggable suggested (better, worse?)
-Adjusted bonuses accordingly
-Made legend font bigger
-Map outline is now thinner
-Edited mountains slightly (I'm really stuck on these, but I think they look a little better now)
-Rivers are fixed, they now look less like they're floating above the land
-Fixed some white spots on the texture, but only the really annoying ones at the edges
-Changed Eastern Republics to Western Republics
-Lightened color of Western Republics
-Added motto (Workers of the World, Unite!)(too much?)
-Added light background image of Stalin (too much?)
To Do:
-Play around with army circles and country names
-Possibly make rivers stand out more
-Comments?

the colour of the western republics is still too much like the colour of the sea. make the western republics the same turquoise colour as sakha. make sakha light grey (grey cannot be used for the western republics because it is beside the greyish-brown unplayable area).
the motto and stalin are both good!
can u change "southern russia" to either "southern far east" or "southern siberia"? in both modern and historical use, southern russia is usually the area, called stalingrad on ur map, between moscow and the caucasus.

The font of the title and legend is faux cyrillic, like with backwards N's and R's. In the top left is the Soviet motto, "Workers of the World, Unite!" in actual Russia. I'll move the circle.

Thanks. I actually got a lot of my borders
here, but I still had to do a lot of research to figure out where to split and combine stuff. I'll be sure to change the colors, too.

Pep, noticed something in the blue continent over tto the far left of the map. The sea over there looks almost like another contry becuase of its comparrison to the continent it borders. Might want to switch the coloring of that continent and another one. Just a thought.

Thanks. Others have suggested this, and I made it lighter, but they (and you, I see) want more changed. Some colors will be switched in the next update.

Pepperonibread....lovely update...fonts, borders, sea, background all look good IMHO.
I can see that most people have picked up a lot of changes/suggestions for you.
My main concerns are:
1. not sure if i like the mountains....they don't appear to go with the style of the map.
2. you already know about the western republics colour being too close to the sea colour
3. this is your large version, how will it translate down to the small version at 600 px wide.
4. there is one river bordering the sea that i think should flow into the sea at taymyr
5. perhaps an english translation in small legible font above or below the russian text.
Please. let's see one more update and we can look at moving this into the main main foundry.
