yea that was sad. and i usually dont think things are sad. so its really sad.

The dog dying scene got to me the most. I don't know why, but it just got to me. Out of the entire movie, the dog dying scene made the movie go beyond.

Though I guess it's because the dog was his only companion, and we see that throughout the movie. And then the dog has to die

I really liked the first two parts, and the movie as a whole.

The dog dying was more sad than him dying though... which I find a little odd but that's just how it worked.

I just may have to see those other versions.......

Ended up as just another American saves the world type effort. In the original they crucify him. The whole point of the 'legend' reference is that the community of zombies actually begin to regard him as the monster, because he has the power to kill them almost at will during the day. Will Smith was pretty good, though.

I thought that trap was set by him, but he just forgot about it in his lonely insanity.

Me too, I remember seeing him grab that guy and put in in his car. Maybe that scene didn't happen.

Maybe your right. I just sort of assumed that because they are a bit more intelligent and organised in the book.

I thought he was completely sane until the dog "incident." Almost like the dog was symbolic for his sanity. But I don't know.

The first movie based on Richard Matheson's novel I Am Legend (which I now have to read) was The Last Man on Earth in 1964 starring the fabulous Vincent Price. In 1971, Charleston Heston took up the role in The Omega Man.
And, yes, I completely recommend The Last Man on Earth. It's a classic. Beware, it's also black/white.

I recommend reading the book (time to dreg up by library card), then each movie (time to visit the local movie store) before I AM LEGEND.

Make a party of it I will, buy a pizza and some sodas I might. I may just invite some friends over........

people that read the book and saw the movie told me i kinda ruined it because there was nothing about half vampires and he didnt kill him self with a pill and all but it was still a terrific movie

I am Legend with Will Smith is a solid 6. It's probably worth a 7 if you've never read the book. The scenes with the dog and in the building are very good. The rest of the film is so-so.

The Omega Man with Charlton Heston is pretty rubbish. It has aged horribly and is a more 'action' version of the book. It's a 5 out of 10.

The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price is largely unwatchable because of the miniscule budget and fuzzy print available on DVD. The film is probably closest to the book, but plays very much like a bad B movie. I'd give it a 4.

The book is a classic - probably my favourite book of all time (the Forever War is probably second). It has everything you could possibly want.

Hollywood just hasn't managed to make a film that is true to the book... yet.

Movie was good. Felt bad for the dog.

yeah, i just saw it yesterday and wow, scary movie. not the best one i've seen but still really a good movie, Will was awesome. its funny when i saw it because behind me were 3-4 older teens and they got scared a lot, so funny what they said. Also i agree with everyone about the best parts of the movie. it was a sad, scary, cool but a bit dissapointing movie. I would have liked to see more about what happened before, when people were turning into zombies, everyone trying to save himself and him setting up his own base.

Yeah, that's the general complaint I've heard and yes I would have liked a better intro into what happened. but they aren't zombies. They are more like vampires, because they can't go out in the sun.

Its not as good as The Return of The Wombles.
