I'm just imagining mtg in aviators and a cowboy hat with a red hankerchief around his neck, cradling a shotgun and a bottle of Kentucky Bourbon whilst he listens to country rock on his SUV stereo ranting about "drivin' them trouble makers outta town" in a John Wayne voice...why can I not be American...why?
I don't drive an SUV, I drive a 74 Chevy Pickup.

Quiet! Stop trying to tarnish my view of the american eldorado! A paradise where I can be accepted for the right-wing homophobic bigot I am and vote for people who want to scrap income tax!

Just saying you got the wrong vehicle. Most of us cowboys out here prefer trucks to SUVs.

Good..good..I'm learning. I've been practising my texan drawl today, and I asked someone to stop their liberal psycho-babble. I'm a fast student!

Completely agree. The only country songs that I like are his (or at least his renditions).

So, are you stereotyping me for using a pickup truck? It can't be helped if they are best suited for the climate up here.

They don't like experimenting. As soon as anything is mainstream, it's like the movie business - if it works, don't change it. I know punk rock and rap also do that, but to me country thirty years ago is the same as it is today.

I don't mind real country, fake country is probably my least favorite music out of anything.

I dont know...my whole spiel against country is just the music. I'm a fan of techincallity and difficulty and melodies. I like metal and bluegrass because its fast, upbeat, and its difficult to play. Country though...its easy rhythms, simple chords, and the same theme over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
I just don't feel like many people put much creativity with country and alot of it sounds the same.

Because if you play a country music cd backwards, you get your wife back, your home back, your truck back and you get the pitcher of beer you just drank back.

Country music is one of the symbols of redneck America, so immediately people resist it.
But i love some of it, Cash is grand, I like James Taylor too if he counts.
And some others too.

Some people just make Rednecks out to be slack-jawed idiots. Problem is, they aren't anymore then other "groups" of people are. Trust me, I have friends that are easily Redneck (and call themselves such) and are pretty cool people.
