Not true. Snopes is your friend. Neither is his name 'Osama' nor is he a Muslim.
The pictures will be posted here later.
As for Hecter, man, I wish I could say I'm sorry my avatar offends you and that based solely on my avatar you conclude so much about me personally. -I think that's called stereotyping btw.
I knew this topic would rile some people, otherwise what fun would it be?
Regarding the condition, poverty, wars, disease etc., in Africa... why does that take precedence over feeding our own hungry, eliminating homelessness or assuring our children aren't faced with tremendous deficits and a more difficult way of life than we've had?
I don't think we should A)Involve ourselves in other countries civil wars B)Jeopardize the future of America in an effort to change millenniums of tribal wars, attempted genocides and lack of progress on other continents. C)Elect a President who refuses to honor our flag and place
all Americans above his allegiance to his race.
Given your arguments, I'd say that this is more a thread advocating American isolationism than Obama's loyalties.
I mean, America has been sending aid to Africa for decades. Every time a spending bill is passed that doesn't benefit America directly do you think that those congressmen who voted for it are anti-American?
You claim that we're stereotyping you based on your flag, but I think we're right. You're sounding more and more like an extreme right-wing isolationist.

a rebel flag means one thing and one thing only , if you aren't smart enough to know that then that makes everything you have said invalid
you may mean it to advertise a map but its offensive and racist and there is no way around it - it symbolizes a regime which embraced repression of people based on the color of their skin.
Seems the last time someone started flying a flag that symbolized hate, over 11 million people died
Loose the flag and you might find people might listen to what you say more

By this day and age I think that the confederate flag (when not being used by hate groups) is national heritage and should be treated as such.

Considering the response here (and I really don't care if the majority agree or disagree) I think people are already listening.
If I was offended by every objectionable avatar or banner on CC I'd be in a tyrade whenever I signed on.
In short, I'm rather enjoying the dialogue.
My next poll will likely be "Is Obama the Anti-Christ?"

No offense but that flag is a symbol of hate it always will be - there should be no sense of pride associated with anything that symbolizes oppression of others.
No matter how you slice it it still stirs up feeling of racism. By your arguments a swasticka then no longer means hate and oppression?
Give it a break and go back to history class, Im assuming you still believe Christopher Columbus discovered America (and fyi america means north south , greenland and the caribean) and that the we never trained the taliban how to fight
Nice to be white and male and oblivious to the real world

It's the national anthem that's optional, and that's what he was not putting his hand over his heart during in the photograph. Go to baseball statiums across the country and you'll see people chatting or bringing fries to their seats during the national anthem. Whether or not you think that's un-American is strictly your opinion, and doesn't reflect the views of the government or America in general.

"Mister Yuck is Greeeen! Mister Yuck is mean!"

LOL!

I haven't seen a Mister Yuck symbol in a looooong time!

Yup.
I'm gonna change my avatar to a swasticka and say it is a symbol of the pride in germany and how they managed to turn from a broken nation into a thriving one. How Hitler installed pride into the souls of the germans and turned around the economy and created jobs for everyone.
It will be awesome.

Half of that is the Gospel truth.
Arguably, Ronald Reagen was a third rate actor who's best ever performance was "Clown With Brain The Size Of Pea Rules Most Powerful County On Earth"
which to be fair to Ron, was a smash hit 1981-89.
He later confessed to "just pissing about really, but the guns were cool."
The guy almost bankrupt the US. A complete nonentity.

Actually, my heritage is both European and Cherokee, and I'm equally proud of both.
If you'd like to talk about oppression I'm sure I can give YOU a "history class" which would make your toes curl about the manner in which the U.S. Government attempted the genocide of all Native American people.
As for what I'll do when whites are a minority? -I'll use it to my advantage. Whenever I don't get my way I'll complain that it's only because I'm white. Then I'll contact the NAAWP, WET TV network and the counterparts of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. -They will, of course, immediately arrive on the scene and turn it into a racial situation with national media coverage and in the long-run it will all add up to a huge gathering of support for my cause!

If you watch the video, Obama is listening intently to the "sister" who is singing the anthem, and he is actually singing the words with her, so I don't consider this a big deal in my book, sorry.
There's no doubt in my mind that Obama loves America. And he is not a racist.

12 year olds sure do say stupid things.
I guess the Catholic Church should stop using the cross, since the crusaders murdered millions under its banner.

OH BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER!
If you haven't noticed, it's only retarded liberals like you who make a deal about people's ethnicity. I have never seen any case of racial discrimination, and yet idiots like you cry every time someone mentions slavery. Get over yourselves, damn.
And oh no, the big bad nazi's are coming to get me! Why the f*ck would I care about a fucking swastika? It's an image! You're like all those Muslims whining about those cartoons of Muhammad awhile back. People like you are a disgrace to humanity.

Shouldn't a candidate for President of the United States place his hand over his heart, in a show of respect, when our National Anthem is played?
Personally, I'd take issue with this whether it was Obama, Clinton, McCain or anyone else seeking the office.
Why should he not be held to the same standards of respect that other politicians are held to?

There's this thing in peoples' profiles. It's called a flag. Mine has red and white stripes and some stars in a blue box. That is neither the flag of South Africa nor Zimbabwe. But nice try, now you know.
Also, Africa is not the only place where there is racial discrimination. Maybe you should flip on the news once in a while. Or do you not get that in Canada, because there are no ethnic tensions there, and thus no news. By the way, how's that whole Montreal thing going?

Really? So, you oppose the Buddhist displays of Swastikas, then, do you? Of course not. Why? Because it is all about the intention of the words. The classic exemple: Imagine you walk into a room with a blackboard on which is written "Pain formidable". You look at it, and say to yourself: "How strange. Who could have written this and why?" Then a thought occurs to you. "Aha! Maybe some people here were studying late-middle English literature, since it is common for authors of the period to place the adjective after the noun. Perhaps it is a Miltonism?" You then ask your friend who was using this room before you got here, certain it is some form of literary society. But he replies: "The French Baker's Convention."
Now this little analogy may appear bizarre to you, but it illustrates something very important abut the nature of art and symbols: What it represents to you is irrelevant (artistic relativism), it is all about what the intention behind it's composition.
Besides, the CSA weren't the evil state of Nazis you imagine: Whilst Grant and Sherman favored slavery, Jackson and Lee opposed it. Go figure. The rebel flag only represents a spirit of resistance to oppressive authority to most. The fact a few people use it and happen to be propone nasty ideologies is irrelevant.

Napoleon Ier wrote:Really? So, you oppose the Buddhist displays of Swastikas, then, do you?
No. However, I know their swastikas will be misinterpreted. Besides, they do not use the same symbol. At least, they don't put it in red things and stuff like that.
However, the whole point is that stuff like that will come over racist whether or not it is meant to be racist.
Of course not. Why? Because it is all about the intention of the words. The classic exemple: Imagine you walk into a room with a blackboard on which is written "Pain formidable". Well I would say "lol french", but I get your point.
Now this little analogy may appear bizarre to you, but it illustrates something very important abut the nature of art and symbols: What it represents to you is irrelevant (artistic relativism), it is all about what the intention behind it's composition.
Possibly, but the whole point is that the flag stirs feelings of racism. Whether or not the artist intents those feelings is irrelevant, because this is the real world and not art-class. If I were to attend a bar mitzvah bearing a little hitler-mustache and a nazi uniform and saying "Sieg Heil" all the time, I would be totally unable to convince anyone there that I didn't mean what the symbols stand for.
The fact a few people use it and happen to be propone nasty ideologies is irrelevant.
It is entirely relevant, actually. The flag doesn't make most of the USA very happy, so anyone
acting like it wasn't offensive would be an idiot. That is what Elijah is doing. I don't care that he has it in his av, he has every right to do that. But to think noone will take offense at it and confuse him with a KKK-member is just stupid.
