While you shouldn't dump someone solely on the fact that they don't understand the concept of alone work time, if they interrupt you consistently, and are causing you to miss deadlines ect, then it will cause resentment that will slowly eat away at the relationship as opposed to making a clean break. So kudos for knowing what you can and cannot accept. God forbid you set any kind of boundaries

i will. because they provide me with the economic sustenance necessary to have a girlfriend in the first place.
see, if i go ahead and be doting and happy to be distracted and interrupted, that might keep the woman happy for awhile, until i stop getting paid, and then she'll leave for someone who doesn't lose jobs and has money to spend on evenings out and presents for her and etc.
besides which, i love the work. and if she loved me, she'd understand that and support me in it by sublimating her impulsive desires, rather than impugn it by indulging them. it's only fair, when i'm so supportive of whatever the woman wants to do. and it's not like i'm asking her to support me in a gambling addiction or alcoholism...
but it's all good. i know you're just knee jerk reacting because of the whole XX chromosome affiliation thing.

Why did your long-term relationship end, if I may inquire?

I'm going to side in the middle on this one. My girlfriend and I actually work on similar stuff, so generally we can contribute quite a bit to each other's work. However, we're both guilty of being distracting sometimes. It's difficult not to, really (especially as sexy as I am). But we have both had "smile and nod" situations where it pretty much comes down to, "ok, it's time for you to go;" it happens, and it's not too difficult to deal with. At least not with our personalities. If the relationship is worth it, it's one of those things you'll suck it up and deal with. If you can't handle it, the relationship probably wasn't going to work out anyway.
A great man once said, "it's all subjective, really."
Oh, and don't let that double-X thing get to you. There's only one in there doing anything anyhow...

no, not entirely.
and not everyone has space enough for a "home office", either. but then, i suppose you must, in at least one of your chateaus.

I know women who are far too resourceful to allow something as petty as a door to get between her and myself. It's true.

and really, the whole thing is moot.
i already dumped the girl. there's no going back from that anyway... and the whole interrupting me thing was part of several other larger issues.
the sharing a workspace thing is just the only one i felt like posting on an interweb forum. mostly because almost all of the women i've ever dated are completely incapable of sharing a workspace (only a couple have, and oddly, that trait was present within those women i stayed with the longest) -- and i used to put up with it, or try to work through it, and at this point, it's pretty much getting to be one of those non-negotiable deal breakers.
if she can't share a workspace with me while i'm trying to work without constantly interrupting me with whatever stupid trivial thing comes into her head every 2 fucking minutes, i really see no point in even trying to stick it out. especially if i'm gonna get a guilt trip for leaving for the library... and almost every woman EVENTUALLY starts to complain about that, except, oddly enough, those women with whom i can share a workspace without constant interruptions.
so whatever. the chick i just dumped is upset, but she'll get over it. we had only been seeing each other for a few weeks.
i just need to meet a woman who is driven and focused. going somewhere with her life instead of looking for some guy to play knight in shining armor and rescue her from her trite ennui and existential quicksand.
cause you see guys, there actually ARE things worse than being alone.
you teenagers out there reading this probably don't get that yet, and maybe you'll never learn it. but that's the truth. you're better off being alone than with the wrong woman. cause the wrong woman can kill you from the inside out.
