i like how it has no adverts and its website is pretty good, but it should be EBC (english b... c...) its really biased and all the journalists there are clearly english, i remember after the scotland france game in france they had a report on bbc saying 'walter smith's scotland' even though alex mcliesh was now the manager...

That's so true. And it's not just the journalists, but most actors too. Why do you think this is the case?

Free newspapers on the subway and the only newspaper in this country that isn't very left-wing, pro-establishment.

Anyway, I don't particularly care for the news because it's the same stupid shit every single time. Government does something stupid -> outrage by people -> government acts like nothing happens -> people forget -> people vote the same government as the last election.

Seriously, our prime minister has been the leader in four cabinets since fucking 2002 and every time the cabinet failed! And the guy managed to make the party bigger almost every time!

Your solution:

Ron Paul.

I had no idea that the BBC was a legitimate news organization! I thought the only contribution from the BBC was syndication of Are You Being Served... man, I love that show...

Far from being a lickspittle to the Government the BBC acted as opposition in the Blair years in the face of a diminished and disparate Conservative party and a Drunk and rent-boy poking Liberal party.

Also in a time of ever-increasing media amalgamation, the BBC acts as a lone independent force. It almost uniquely functions in the old traditions of Journalism and general programming. It makes 'important' programmes which only about 7 people will ever watch, in a world of increasing bottom-line; lowest common denominator scheduling. The creators of which only dance to the monotonous tune of number crunchers on their petty-cash keyboards.

So God save the BBC! God bless David Attenborough! May Paul Merton live forever! May Black adder continue to influence the nature of smart-arses throughout the English speaking world!

Without the BBC all we would have is Friends Re-runs, Ant and Deck, who wants to be a millionaire and that tosser Simon Cowell!

Word. The BBC has the advantage of not needing to get high viewing-numbers right away too, that way many good shows have continued to exist without being cancelled after 3 episodes.

The guys who dont like the BBC are those who think 'yay lets be anti establishment!!!' without really understanding what they themselves are on about....least from what I have read so far in this thread :p
And thinking about the license its actually cheaper than it used to be...Ill let the mathmeticians figure that out.

Autotoad wrote:I personally dislike the BBC, and everything that it stands for.

The "British Broadcasting Corporation", funded by the unpopular "Televesion licence" within the UK has an unfair, anti-competitive, government consensus message throughout all of it's poor, low quality broadcasts.

Funded solely by the television licence fee (about 120 Quid per household per year), one could see it not only as a "soviet style" government agenda spewing think-tank, but also as an extra enforced "tax burden" upon the British public.

Everything it represents is unfair and against all market principles. The disturbing ties between political leaders in the past and BBC cheif-directors has been concerning, and the actual programme content is of an absolutely shite quality, aiding a dumbed down britain, little imagination or intellectual relevance.

But what really annoys me, is that you fuckers sit there, absorbing their governmental consensus, politically motivated correctness, socialist mentality and contempt for anything "British".

How do you get away without paying for this TV licence??

The official rules state "if you have an aerial attached to a television, it is mandatory for you to pay the licence fee"

Now, this is not neccassarily correct.

If, like me, you do not want to have this enforced tax bill thrust upon you, funding their shite quality programming and radio broadcasts, simply untune any BBC channels from your analogue or digital reciever, and notify BBC of you doing this. If you subscribe to cable or satelite, you can also request your service provider to block these channels to your set-top boxes.

This will leave you TV licence exempt.

Now, we can start the revoloution...which of you fucking greasy internet monkies are with me?

what, and miss doctor who!? f*ck off, grasshopper.
