I would like to see half of this done, not exactly sure on which half and maybe something different from those. I like the idea of extending fog of war to allow more skill needed to figure out who has what bonus etc. but I think that all this leaves anyone to randomly guesses.

With the suggestion, you do not allow people to see how many troops they are getting, how much they are attack/fortifying, or what the board looks like when it is not your turn.

What can you tell about the opponents: absolutely nothing. What does this mean: it takes no skill to use the fog to your advantage, and it is impossible to get good at the fog game type because you have to randomly guess what happens.

The farthest I would go with this, to still keep it possible to know what is going on, but make it harder, is probably to make the entire board foggy while a person is taking a turn. This means that the score obsessed people have no reason to look at the board at all, everyone can only see it after the turn is over, and you can't see how many armies they had (getting to know how many they have left)

But I am cautious about that too. All of this seems to take the little extra skill out in a foggy game, making it way more luck based that a sunny one.

Maybe add a statetic compass to show who "your Map" think is the best leading here.

Eks if you see 3red (orange on pic armies, and 5 blue and 8 green.

Then you would go for green right? But this cakediagram only show what you see.

PS: There should be 2 digrams, one for armies, and one for terretories.

I like this suggestion. In fact, isn't that the way FoW is supposed to work? I don't get the point in joining a FoW game and then analyze all the log to get the same information you would get from a non-FoW game. At the end, FoW games have the same information, but it's more difficult and tedious to get it.
