i was tryin to figure out exactly how the points thing works but i figured thru the thread so yeah for sure i'm down should be interesting.....expecially sence you could....well hmmm.....it would seem thta the people that naturally will be the biggest potential loosers are highest rank and the lowest ranked the greatest potential gainers.....so its surprisingly balanced
i dig it sign me up most def

btw like the S.C. avatar i'm assuming thats what it is :D

I have randomly seeded the players and the four round 1 brackets. You will be competing against the others in your bracket for all 4 round 1 games. The brackets are as follows:

BRACKET A
JustCallMeStupid
Jackofalltrades
Zorbas
Darin44
scorpion86
BRACKET B
blockhead15
musteriuz
Soldier4Christ
DanOfWar
G_M
BRACKET C
dittoeevee8888
Marfski
riv74
KidWhisky
lach07
BRACKET D
danodukebb
Hands of Blue
astompel
dimeat
nick11

All 16 games for round 1 have been made and PM's sent this morning. Please join as soon as you can... you will have 1 week before I start replacing people.

Games were made standard, chained, flat, foggy, freestyle... hopefully they will move quick.

Thanks and have fun,
GD

Ok so I am just curious. I joined thinking that the games were seq like it says in the first post. I know that you say in your last post that they were made freestyle. Was there any particular reason for the change. Did I miss something somewere. Still stoked on this tourny just not a huge fan of freestyle. Will we have the chance to vote to change it for the finals just like the cards.

Fair point. I did initially intend that the games be sequential. However I basically screwed up making the games and people were joining and nobody pointed it out until after some games had started so it would have been uneven to remake some. I checked the first post quickly though I don't think it actually says whether they would be sequential or freestyle. And I convinced myself that freestyle is a little more good model of "go-go", unregulated sub prime lending.

But we can definitely to a vote (it will probably be only by PM to the 8 who make the finals for obvious reasons) on all settings for the final game... only thing that is fixed is that the map will be US Senate.

And by way of an update, the "D" bracket has finished all of their first round games. Setting the standard for irresponsible lending is astompel, who lost a whopping 141 points, followed with a somewhat more responsible set of underwriting guidelines were dimmeat (-77) and nick11 (-34). Setting the standard for borrowing more cash than (perhaps) their "homes" are worth, danodukebb has walked away with a nice +164 for a couple of nice condos he plans to flip in Chicago and NYC. Hand of blue also managed to finance a nice property in San Francisco for +88, but we're thinking that is probably within his ability to repay so a Senate bailout for him is, we think, probably unlikely but we'll see...

Quick update: all but four of the initial 16 "loans" have been brokered. I will update net cash positions for everyone this weekend... maybe by then the last four will have finished as well. Thanks!

Anyway, I got 3 games in the bracket C (I'guess I'm replacing lach07). Btw, these games promoted me to Major lol, do not mind playing few more of these tourneys if that will happen more often :-D - 4 more tourneys and I'm a general lol :D

lol yea those were my points you stole :( . I went from major down to lieutenant. Well at least I may make it as one of the biggest losers, although I'm not sure if that is a really good thing either lol.

With just 2 games unfinished in the A Bracket, here are the standings by bracket (negative = "lenders", postives = "borrowers"):

BRACKET A
JustCallMeStupid -130
Jackofalltrades +109 Runner up
Zorbas -46
Darin44 +177
scorpion86-111
BRACKET B
blockhead15: -76
musteriuz: +32
Soldier4Christ: -20
DanOfWar: +116
G_M: -49
BRACKET C
dittoeevee8888: +41
Marfski: -67
riv74: -67
KidWhisky: -84
Gunner1980 (replaced lach07): +177
BRACKET D
danodukebb: +164
Hands of Blue: +88
astompel: -141
dimeat: -77 Runner up
nick11: -34

As evident from the results so far, it is pretty clear that the brackets differed quite a bit as to how many net points changed hands. As mentioned, brackets were entirely random (using old-fashion pseudo random number in excel).

At present, the showdown leading four borrowers (and bracket) are Gunner1980 (C), danodukebb (D), DanOfWar (B), and Darin 44 (A - note: two games still outstanding). The leading lenders in need of a bail out are: astompel (D), KidWhisky (C), dimeat (D), and blockhead15 (B). This rather nice distribution across the brackets is purely random, and the final list for the Senate game may change depending on what happens in the last two games of Bracket A, so stay tuned.

Thanks,
GD

All done finally. I am negative about 130 something I think... I actually had to throw the last game which kind of sucked.... oh well... 1/8 I can win the next one I suppose.

I vote Escalating cards Terminator if possible. Sunny or cloudy doesnt matter.

Your game must have finished just after I checked this weekend (?) And you are exactly at -130. I have updated bracket A results above.

Here are the finalists:

4 BIGGEST LENDERS NEEDING A BAIL OUT:
  1. astompel
  2. JustCallMeStupid
  3. sorpion86
  4. KidWhisky

4 BIGGEST BORROWERS NEEDING A BAIL OUT:
  1. Darin44
  2. Gunner1980
  3. danodukebb
  4. DanOfWar

As agreed, finalists can vote for the Senate game settings (fog, cards, fortifications) by posting in this threads below. The final game will be made on Saturday.

Thanks everyone who participated in round 1. Now it's time to see democracy in action in the great institution of the US Senate!

Well I'm gonna vote for standard, esc, no fog for the final game. I'm not to picky when it comes to forts.

Esc, sunny would be nice, do not care about the fort... Standard (winner takes it all) :)

With 6 of the final 8 weighing in on settings, we have some clear preferences for sunny, standard/seq., esc. HOWEVER, only one person bothered to vote on forts (many said they don't care about forts), so we will have unlimited forts. Game and PW will be sent out tonight.

Thanks all and good luck,
GD

We have our winner. Congratulations to gunner1980, who managed to wrangle a 150 point bail out from the US Senate. A well played tournament by all... thanks to all who played.
