A small tweak to the scoring rules...we will have a territory battle that will be explained in each game chat worth 3 points (FG), while the secret missions will be worth 7 points (TD).

The bracket is now up...it will be followed by scoring summaries as the games get started...enjoy the tournament and the bowl season.

Have fun and good luck...I'll probably come up with some kind of newsletter to go along with this, but feel free to add your own report as your games progress. Please don't shun the sideline reporter on your way to the locker room

Flex, just an FYI--your bracket image on the first page has Blitzaholic and JoJo123 each with 2 teams. Apparently Blitz is so good he deserves the top 2 seeds. And as for JoJo, I'm assuming that probably happened because I was 10th in rank but refused to take OSU, so you assigned JoJo to both OSU and TCU. The list at the bottom of that first post doesn't appear to have errors, though. Just thought you might like to clean things up a bit.

good catch guys...the corrected bracket is up...also a small tweak to the scoring system...see the list in the post and I will pm it along with your first games here in a bit.

I took out the secret missions because it was going to be too time-consuming and I wasn't sure how fair I could keep it.

I've added scoring possibilities for bonuses earned via landmasses and cards to keep the scoring more tied to winning each map. The landmass bonus is self-explanatory...the owned card bonus is the +2 bump you get for territories you own at the time of a turn-in.

#11 TCU takes the first quarter over #6 Utah in [game]3805098[/game] by a score of 13-3, I think (10 bonus armies for HighlanderAttack = 3 pts; win + 10 or fewer rounds + 24 (so close!) bonus armies for me = 7 + 3 + 3 = 13 points).

There were no points awarded for bonuses in this one...I think your confusion was on the cards. It's not the total armies you get for turning in cards...it's only the +2 bonus you get for holding the territory that your are turning in. On that count...Highlander had +2 and Geigerm had +4...both short of scoring in the football format.

landmass bonuses are also a part of this "bonus" scoring, but no one held a landmass in this game.

Hope that makes better sense. Either way, the margin in this case is the same.

Yeah, my confusion was on the cards. Guess I still don't get your bonus system even after seeing something similar through the whole USFL tourney.

I'll still take the win, whatever the darn score is!

A couple players still need to join their first quarters and a couple have been completed, including my rough 20-0 start against USC...ouch.

I will send out the second quarters for Wednesday and reminders to players with open games tomorrow...failure to join by Wednesday means I'll go to the reserves list.

Bracket and boxscores are updated through the early results

Score updates have gone up...doochbagbill has until the end of Wednesday to join at least one of his quarters before I go to the reserves...all other games are active.

Note the scores are updated in the bracket...you can look at the boxscores to see exactly what each team did to score...some games are still in the middle of the first quarter...others have finished the first quarter.

The second quarter maps are going out in a few minutes.

but can we start the 2nd Quarter games before the 1st Quarter is over?
Or do you want us to wait?

how did he score 3 points? he never held a bonus any round? I am not sure? I held many bonus? you sure your scoring is right? I owned tons of bonus and land masses the whole game and you have me as 0?

Utah gets a field goal in the second quarter for holding the bonus territory, but TCU adds another TD and FG (for a 10-round win) for a 10-3 second quarter score and 20-3 overall lead.

Your opponent scored three points for winning the territory battle...holding Missouri at the end of round 5. Your score will be added once the map is officially finished. Looks like you are about one turn away, then you will score your map-winning points and vault to the lead.

New quarters will go out every other day to keep things moving...so the 3rd quarters will be sent Friday and the 4th quarters will go out during the weekend.

However, I will wait for all of the first round games to finish before moving into the Elite 8 games.

Oh yeah, #4 Alabama leads #13 Oklahoma State 19-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter, if I understand the scoring:
7 points for winning head to head, 7 points for winning in 7 rounds or less, 3 points for the territory bonus, and 2 points for preventing opponent from gaining any landmass/owned card bonuses.

You have the score correct and yes...join each quarter as its sent out...no need to wait for the previous one to finish first.

Winning player
Win head-to-head = 7 pts (TD)
Win in 7 rounds or less = 7 pts (TD)
Gain 12 troops in landmass/owned card bonuses = 3 pts. (FG)
Gain 25 troops in landmass/owned card bonuses = 7 pts. (TD)
Prevent opponent from gaining any owned card/landmass bonus = 2 pts. (safety)

I am quite sure I did all these, so is the final score after the 1st quarter 26 to 3?
