The peninsula looks kind of stretched.

can i suggest that both capitals start neutral, so that we don't have games where player 1 wins just because he starts with more capitals than player 2?

Well, if you want to talk impassibles, there's a little thing called "the world's most heavily fortified border"... seems weird to do a korea map and not use the DMZ as a gameplay feature.

Definitely right here. Make the map crisper and more professional looking. The crayon-y look of this map does not do it justice (or any map for that matter). Also, I liked the nice background you had before. I do not see why you added the ocean and land in there. Also, you are gonna need some more impassables, because right now it is just a huge free-for-all in there. Find some more mountains ranges and use them to divvy up the land a little better.
I third this note- and add another (#5 on pole).
The color of China is too bright too sit, but I do feel it needs to stay to avoid making it look like an island. A less saturated color/some minor texture/better defined borders on the other map will help. It's very distracting the color it is now, and as it's a solid defined color almost more-so than the map itself. With improved border work/a cleaner look I can put more input into the color/look of china. Until the map is cleaner though, I cannot accurately comment.

Yes, I did this because terits were getting too squished.

That's what I was thinking.

Good idea … I knew to do something with the fascism aspect.
I was definitely going to do impassability — DMZ is very good.

Yeah I will find a good texture … I did a quick search before publishing v3, but nothing deep.

I'm getting Cs4 for Christmas, so look for a mini-update Christmas Eve (when I will make the poll end) and then a regular one with redone borders and added impassables after X-mas.

There is definitely some potential here... possibly more so than your other project(s)... hopefully you will be able to step the graphics up a level with your Christmas CS4!

Thanks, Benn. Scratch my post — I just re-did the borders with brush (no idea why I used the pencil). It looks much, much better. I will edit the post and post the update next after I do the impassables and such.

I just have to say that it is a little hard to see your name on the bottom right hand corner, maybe a clearer font if you want people to be able to see it,...but otherwise for that, i think it is a great map

And mine, and pretty much everyone else's. It's the right one — hence "only GFX." It's not the finished version yet.

Any suggs on what the DMZ's symbol should be? I've tried concertina wire (didn't really show) and tanks (didn't fit).

I still dunno why the 88's don't show up good like they do in the Ps doc.

Separate the flags and make that blockade look better.

are you drawing in the 88's? Or are you doing the xml early? I don't think you need to worry about the 88's just yet... you don't need to be doing the xml yet. Instead, focus on the graphics. The docks could be much improved... and that small island Ullongdo - the border is too thick, making it look very much out of place - well I'm sure the border is the same width as everywhere else - but because the island is so small it looks strange - so try something there, either make the border thinner, or make the island bigger - see what works.
I'm also not too crazy about the fuzzy underline in the title - which is also the assault routes. There may be a better way to do that.
The grey border in the middle looks a bit sloppy though, you could make it look much smoother. The trick is to make it look like it didn't come from 'paint'.
The mountains look great - however, I think they would look better if they covered up the borders a bit more - correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that on most maps with mountains, you can't actually see the border underneath them - that would be great here.
Stick with it - you're doing great!

You should try to avoid 4 way borders since they get confusing You have one above p'yong yang.

No, those aren't from the XML (though I have all the co-ordinates already). I just took the pic of 88s from mibi, I think it was (ty) and put 'em in.
rustlemania wrote:The docks could be much improved...
I'm not very happy with them either, besides you can barely see the DMZ dock route. I've been playing around with brushes but haven't found something good yet…

I'll make it thinner … agreed it looks weird.

Agreed. Looks like barbed wire, doesn't it?

Main thing I need to change. It's kinda a placeholder at the moment — I still haven't found a good impassable symbol for the DMZ.

Will do.

Hmmm, really? Irkutsk in the Soviet Union map borders 7 territories …

he (or she) means that you shouldn't have 4 terits meet at one point because it is hard to tell if diagonals border.

I remember a year or two ago when a Korean War Map was attempted, I wish those graphics were still around, as they could've been helpful gameplay wise (graphics not so much, as you have a different approach to them). I like your start, I'll stop by again.

Poll Results
Option I — Both :: 5 votes / 50%
Option II — China :: 1 vote / 10%
Option III — Ocean :: 0 votes / 0%
Option IV — Neither :: 2 votes / 20%
Option V — Other :: 2 votes / 20%
So both it remains (more convenient for me

)
Update coming soon (got Cs4!)
