Nevertheless, Metallica has made plenty of amazing songs. Not to mention their most recent album wasn't half-bad. They redeemed themselves with that album. Not completely, but somewhat.
I'll have to download it
Seriously though, I don't know how I missed this thread.
Metallica had more good songs but I think the good songs Megadeth had were a little better. That coupled with the fact that Lars is a tool makes me say Megadeth wins.
Lars is a tool, I won't deny... but he has a kick-ass name. I mean, cmon, LARS!!!
Anyways, I'm not one to say I've listened to all of Megadeth's songs (don't go apeshit on me by saying that I can't judge them if I haven't heard them) but the ones I've heard aren't that great. I personally don't like their style.

Metallica all the way.I think after James went to rehab for drinking, his writing changed. Not saying it sucks but it is different.I still listen to them often but no where near like I use to.The departure of Jason was another issue they had to face.I saw them twice, the 1st time was in Allentown,Pa the 2nd Philly,Pa.It was the best concert I have ever seen and I have seen many. The sound better live than they do on there albums.

Overall, Metallica all the way.
Simply too talented, albeit only for a season, to ever put second place. Megadeth simply hasn't shown such virtuosity.

Since Dave Mustaine co-wrote many of Metallica's early songs and played a huge role in making a name for Metallica before he was fired. If Metallica is better, would it be so without Dave Mustaine?

Mustaine shares writing credits on a few of the Kill em All songs. He didn't play a note on the album though, so I have to say that Metallica has gone on and grown pretty much without him. I am glad for that, since we got two great bands, instead of just one. Although I haven't bought a new Mega album in years. I should probably do that.
And Lars is a dick?? Have you seen/heard Mustaine's act? He banned a former guitarist from his band from using the band name!!

Sorry Mega...just listened to Ride the Lightening, Master of Puppets and Megadeth's greatest. There is no competition. Fade to Black and MAster of Puppets were the two best songs, followed by a personal fave of In my Darkest Hour.

Metallica...even though (MOST) of their never albums suck that doesn't mean they were amazing in the 80s-90s.

You could you please repeat yourself? I think I want to disagree with you, but I'm not quite sure what you just said.

I'm not so sure. Maybe he's saying that any band in the 80s-90s which sucked were considered awesome?

Funny answers.....well....I dont think you can compare AC/DC, first of all, with these two bands - different kind of music. And whoever said ACDC has one riff they keep changing up is a fooking idiot...sorry. The music world disagrees with you.
I love all three bands...seen them all in concert.......Between the two M's, Metallica definately appeals to me more although they tend to be a little dark.....some of their remakes I have thot were excellent - like Whiskey in the Jar by the Irish Rovers (who I have seen too)....THAT was wonderful......of course I liked Danzig too....lol.
You wanna compare ACDC with someone, pick ZZ Top

I really fail to see how there can be any competition at all. It's like asking a crummy high school baseball team (Megadeth) to try and beat the team with the most World Series in history, the New York Yankees (Metallica).
