I think you are disillusioned. Do you think Pilosie, Obama, Bush, Franken and all the rest are people like me? They are mostly crooks, bought and paid for by bigger crooks. You need to get your heads out of your asses and take a look around. Cops abuse their authority, congress abuses their authority, and the President abuses his authority. Think of Bush before you speak in defense of Obama.

well Duh! But you have to understand that they are controlling the political process. You want to run for president, guess what, you will not be involved in the debates. You want to vote! guess what, electronic voting makes it totally easy to tamper with the voting results. And now, the rush is on to take guns away from the law abiding citizenry of America. These are the ones that follow the rules. It is only to make it so that the republicratic regime can pave the way for globalist government, where I will not enjoy the rights that I currently enjoy. f*ck that!

Lets see you give the folks in China this argument. I know most people think the US government is "for the people, by the people...." etc. But for those in power..... (insert the power corrupts line here).

I like to use my gun on a live target at least once a week. I try to shoot it three times, but sometimes you just don't have the time and/or energy to do that. It usually ends up being one or two times. Three is a good round number, not too little, but not too much either. I wouldn't mind using my gun about three times a week, now that I think about it. Yeah, perfect 3.

To bring the word and have us all decide where we stand on His truth... to we embrace it or reject it. When He returns, He is going to kick ass. No guns will be necessary then. I am buessing that Jones is not a Christian, because he does not know this.

What jay said is true, but you... I am afraid you must be reading a different Bible. Christ is the uniter, not the divider.

Matthew 10:34-36
Think not that I am come
to send peace on earth: I came
not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man
at variance against his father,
and the daughter against her
mother, and the daughter in
law against her mother in law.
And a man's foes shall be
they of his own household.

Re Jones question as to whether Jesus or His disciples carried weapons; the first time He sent them out He told them not to take anything but a staff (Mark 6:8). The second time He sent them out he told them to take swords (Luke 22:36). When Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, Peter had a sword and attacked a guard with it, cutting off his ear. Jesus told him to put up his sword, and healed the guard's ear, submitting Himself to be arrested. So why did He tell them to carry them if He didn't want them put to use? You tell me.

I live across the lake from New Orleans. It's quiet over here and i don't feel the need to carry a gun. If i go into New Orleans however, i'm packing.

BTW a very good reason to carry a concealed weapon is if your a Cop, Lawyer, Gov Official, Company Exec, Or are in the public spotlight and tend to piss people off. Also if you work in a terrible city. :?

Or, if you are a constitutional American! The Constitution tells us that it is good citizenry to be armed and able to defend yourself and the Nation. Tyranny is just around the corner. Our Government is controlled by the bankers!

I carry a gun most everywhere I go. I carry it for self defense. It is a last resort. Did Jesus carry a weapon?
Did he encourage his followers to?
If he'da had a gun he might not have been crucified. And a half-dozen Roman soldiers woulda died for our sins instead.

Not any more.

Wrong. If Jesus had a gun He wouldn't have used it. You don't think He could have stopped those Romans if He wanted to? It was part of the plan, my friend, that He die so that we could live.

This is why I do not own a gun. (even though I sometimes carry one at work) I can't think of a single situation Jesus would use a gun, so I don't think I will ever need one.

Thank you Jay. Fairly obviously I didn't think Jesus should actually have had a gun - you know that I am pretty well-studied in these matters, if you've read my many posts (and I know you have, because you respond (wrongly but) sincerely and intelligently. Not to mention that guns weren't invented yet last time Jesus was here.

Captain nutjob repeatedly claims to be a christian and repeatedly condones gun ownership and use. I see a conflict there.

I suspect taht the Captain woulda considered Jesus a "pussy".

It's not like you to ignore a post, so i'll assume you missed my last where i answered your question re whether or not Jesus and His disciples owned weapons. I don't call myself a Christian because of my consistent choice to follow my own lead, but my owning a gun has nothing to do with whether or not i'm a disciple of Jesus - i was for 14 years and i owned guns then as i do now.

I answered your question and gave you the references in the Bible to show you that Jesus indeed advocated owning weapons. As there is no record of He or His disciples ever using them (aside from Peter in the Garden of Gesthemane), i can't be certain as to why He said it was ok to carry one. I carry a knife always, and i carry a gun when i go into the city. I've never killed anyone as a civilian, and would not unless my life was threatened. I have had to pull it out a few times to discourage such, and if i'd been unarmed i wouldn't be here now.

I listen to you guys with somewhat of a bemused attitude on this, as it's pretty obvious that you've led sheltered lives as far as violence is concerned. I haven't, and this shit is not hypothetical to me. If others have guns - and that definitely includes officials - then i'm at their mercy if i go unarmed.

Not ignoring, Mr B - looking for my Bible (I've looked at it more in the past year, debating in these fora, than I have in decades - this is fun).

Hmm. He does tell the disciples to get a sword, doesn't he? But almost immediately he tells them not to use them. Not sure why - possibly it is something to do with fulfilling prophecy - did you have to have a sword to be counted an outlaw in that time and place?

"if he has no sword, let him sell his cloak to buy one. For Scripture says, "And he was counted among the outlaws", and these words I tell you must find fulfillment in me."

From time to time he does do things, it seems, purely to fit previous prophecies.

Does he encourage violence anywhere?

Incidentally, I grew up in a pretty rough town , though people didn't carry guns - they are illegal and used to be difficult to obtain. I don't know how prevalent guns are there now, but I would hate to live there if they're common. (Actually I'd hate to live there anyhow)

For me, carrying a gun would be a mistake. In a fight, I'm usually on my way to ground from being hit and still saying "can't we all just get along?"

I'm sure I'd be useless in a firefight (though I am, or used to be, a good shot).

I live in London.

In the past 6 months within 100 yards of my front door, 6 people have been stabbed, one bloke was beaten to death by a gang of 3 teenagers. My next door neighbour but one has been burgled twice. Once she woke up and found the guy standing over her speaking to her in a foreign language.

I don't own a gun
When I go out, i don't carry a knife.
I don't have a baseball bat (or similar defence item) in my bedroom.

I'm street wise and have sensible amounts of door and window locks to keep out burglars. This is sufficient to protect yourself from criminals.

I grew up in Detroit. I, too, am street wise. Its better to have a gun and not need it, than it is to need it and not have it. Locks on windows and doors are good while you are inside. but when you go out, it could be you being stabbed to death on the street. Imagine how you could have assisted the poor bastard if you had come upon the crime able to defend the person being assaulted?
