Why does everybody hate paint?

Look at the quality of the image you have posted compared to any map that has been put up for play lately. Notice the differences?

I love joking around with my friends that paint is a good program, and I use it for quick and easy hack image editing. But it is certainly NOT a good program.

There are only two zoom levels, no layers (heck there aren't even any seperate objects! It all becomes one object), you can only undo 3 times...

Forget about more complicated details such as different fonts, wider color selection, opacity, texture, etc...

Some people can do incredible things in paint, but I'm pretty sure you can't (no offense, its a worthless talent and no one here has it). Your life will be much easier if you user a different program, and your map will be much better.

Good points, I'll fix this up a bit in a different program which means for now the next update won't come for a while (Not really that long though.) Good point, paint, is just to basic, I'll use something esle.

Also, I forgot to post the newer version in the first post, and just posted it when in the then last post. IT will be up, in the first post.
If anybody got confused because of this, sorry.

No, I made it in paint, but with how bad paint is I can see the problem, no body worry it will be revised, without paint.

I grew up in Fremont myself. Looks good so far. I see you used the bridges as actual connectors across the bay. Maybe in a future version we can put in the B.A.R.T. line. It can be an extended version of the map where you can take over the B.A.R.T. line. Fortificaitons can be adjacent, but if you took over a BART line you can fortify several territories along the BART line. Just a thought.

1) What does hovering map mean?

2) Kyle, no offence, but the city/ towns are way messed up. But the colors are better, good to know.

Hovering maps are like our current 'Germany' map, where it is not in real space (I.E. not connected to the surrounding areas and countries).

I don't like hovering maps.

And if you know someone who can generate a key code, you can keep it for free. You could also find it on BitTorrent, probably.

*note that this is just a suggestion and that Conquerclub and I do not endorse theft*

does everybody agree that the font, the dark colors, and the thick borders make this map a lot worst.

Because those are getting fixed, when I get a photoshop trail.

i would love to see a san francisco map.
you could zoom in on san fran and divide it into all the different districts within the city.
The bonus for holding the tenderloin of course would be 1 :)

It would take some work to make an SF-only map interesting... the city is a seven mile by seven mile square, with only a few impassable borders (some hills and golden gate park). I think that including some surrounding cities and islands is the way to go, but the current attempt at creating the entire bay area misses the mark. I think the map would be improved if it was more San Francisco-centric, with bridge or ferry connections to Treasure Island, Alcatraz, Marin County, and of course Oaktown!

i totally agree (I live in SF). I was toying with an SF only map, but i agree i think it wouldnt be good. And, an all bay area map is kinda lame too.

but a marin, sf, oak/berk, + islands could be really cool.

johloh, that's a weird angle but it really works... SF in the foreground, islands are visible, east bay represented but not too prominent. Consider posting this as a new thread, as a San Francisco map versus Bay Area map.

I'm having trouble working out what the bonus regions (continents) would be... Marin County, Alameda County, a small Contra Costa County region, and then maybe split SF into three or four regions. Downtown could run from SOMA up through the Fin. Dist, Chinatown, North Beach, and Fishermans' Warf, with a link to Alcatraz; the Richmond District (not to be confused with City of Richmond) could run the length of Geary and include the park and the Presidio; the Sunset could run from the park south through Stonestown and Park Merced; and a generic southern region could stretch from the Mission to Bay View. Extra bonus for controlling all SF regions.

I'm excited about this map already!

I'm still working on this map.
Anyway, I'm going to post a version with all of the countries white. To see if that's better.

EDIT: The problems with a 3d map is it's hard, and it won't have everywhere.
