I've been very sceptical to 1v1 games, as whoever begins would normally have an advantage over whoever goes 2nd. Somehow I've been able to break that tradition in the tournament, although not outside it. Don't ask me why that is, because I don't understand it.

Some maps going first heads up can be a huge advantage in my experience (Doodle Earth I am looking at you). Sometimes though I don't mind going second as it gives me a chance to see how my opponent is playing (Is he/she going for a region, or all out against me). I also second the notion that the games don't take too long, in fact most of the games I have been lucky enough to play RT (which is a huge boon to me as a freemium).

That being said, I look forward to facing some of the more well known CC players down the road if my luck and strategies hold out.
