Newer mine, after 10 days people will forget these topic, like forget WWll Eastern front topic, and save me of more madnes and i will play other CC maps free brain.

i understand how you feel. but is it that hard to put some shadows for the font or make it bold?
do this and post the new versions. then people will chose the one they like.

i posted like a dozen fonts and fonts sizes and colours and shades until i chose the right one.

I wondered how long it would take before it got to this...

DiM you're relatively new to the foundry right (I think)? If qwert doesn't wanna do something he's not gonna budge. Argument will only make him less likely to develop the map.

yeah i'm new (i think 2weeks) and i know qwert is stubborn but he's not stupid. he should understand that the foundry means lots of headaches andlots of people to satisfy. it's hard but it makes the effort worthwhile. giving up because you don't want to add a shadow to a font is really nonsense. somebody asked me 5 minutes ago for smaller icons on my map. i did it and posted the result. it does not mean i'm going to use the small icons just because one person said so, but seeing the new image more people might like it or hate it and i'll get more feedback.

Dim, maybe you dont know , but i in my WWll EAStern front map, upload 200 images on all minor thing, and when i see that these map with text shadows look bad, that these mean that i dont want to upload with shadows, and Guiscard also know that i can easy put these map in vacation(ofcourse if Andy apply these) and waith some better time when people will understand what i try to make in these map.

I don't want to get involved, I'll just remind everyone the "[Official] How to Make a Map" thread says

Developmental maps will be discussed in length in the Foundry, in their respective topics. Cartographers must be open to any advice and suggestions. Be sure that if you do not implement said advice you must have logical reason for doing so. This rebuttal must be stated either by you, or argued by another Foundry poster who sees the drawbacks or shortcomings in said advice. There will be no rebuttals of ‘It’s my map, let me do it my way.’ Waiting for feedback on your map is the one of the most important parts of development.

Yeh. Take note of this. I'm not gonna argue anything here, just wanted to let DiM know the situation.

I know situation its same like in WWll Eastern Front, 1 strange request and map its lost, becouse developmental rule give right to 1 man with 1 strange request delete all logical explanation of map authors.

For those interested, I created a Flame Thread some of the cartographers (and those in the Quench-it-Crew) might be interested in.

Anyways, Lets keep the thread on topic, and lets work on the map!

It's not one person though, you've had multiple people request changes with the font. I'm with Guiscard, I'm not here to argue.

these what i say, my logical explanation its same like old strategic map, and i want to be like old strategic map, but if i change these text font and colours then no point to go up in working in these map.

Andy i send message to Lack, and wait hese explanation of yours objectiviti in centralising army numbers. If he tel that you right to in 1 topic say that numbers not centralised and in second topic say that good, and bouth map authors work in same way, with same problems and same explanation, then here something not right.

Qwert, sometimes compromises must be made.

How about, you change the color of the Air Fields continent, to something that won't blend so easily with the choice of font color?

only i can try to change Text colours in Air Fields in some spectar of Indigo colours.
Why do change colours of terittory, i manage to put colours for blinded colours person can recognise diference.

You want to say, that you made compromise in chinese checkers and put map to be quenches, knowing that army numbers not 100% centralised?

Nice joke with these flame war topic, its very funny but with no efect for me becouse nothing will change here.

i took the liberty of making some modifications. here you go.

for "TARGET MAP" i used a drop shadow effect
for "Alternative Plan A" i used a slight glow
for "Alternative Plan B" i simply bolded the font
for "5th Marine Division" i used sharpen.

there are many more options. try some and you'll get a very readable text.

notice i kept the font style and colour.

also you should try reducing the shadows for the compas and the ruler and use antialising for the shadow not hard edge.

Did I hear the word "quench"? Am I part of this quench it crew Andy? What is its purpose exactly and who are its members...or...is it a kind of secret society? :?

Hehe. If the answer is the latter pm me and I am ready to go dark...Bauer style...

i liked the font how it was......its keeping the feel of a old world war 2 map which the author is trying to create.

the authour wants to create a particular style for this map and i think it is quite readable....

Anyways qwert where has the map gone because i cant click on it!!!

Oh by the way keyogi i and several people made comments about the bonuses on the artic map. Nothing was done about it!!!!!

Hi qwert, thouhgt I'd move the discussion back to your thread.

I like the look of this map, though I agree with others that the legend needs to be more clear. The casual user should be able to figure everything out in about a minute just by looking at the map.

I think you've done a pretty good job picking colors that don't require army shadows. The only color I would change is the one in the center continent - the army counts don't stand out to my color-challenged eyes. If it was just a few shades lighter I think it would be easier to read, and fit more with the other light colors on the map.

I assume you aren't talking about army coordinates yet, as there could still be changes, right?

But do not close the poll...I feel that with a publicity stunt I can actually gain lost ground on Wisse's option.

People vote A...you know it's good to vote for option A...the first letter in the alphabet and all that nice stuff...

qwert you're being childish to say the least.

i really like this map and so do the others but you have to understand that sometimes things can't be done only how you want, you must also listen to others and try to improve the map based on their advices.
