great job keep up the good work.
And what a Daddy Day treat I have!
I was carrying sme shopping in, and went round the side of the house for the first time in a while (to take the wine straight to the basement door) - and discovered a whole bunch of wild strawberries in the garden!
Cool strawberries. I love strawberries even that kind that grows in your yard as a weed that you can't eat. Of course I don't think those are actually strawberries but we call them that so yeah I love strawberries.
Those are strawberries. There are no poisonous wild plants that look like strawberries.
Even the yellow ones (which are "wood strawberries"), although those have almost no taste.
If they're red, have their seeds on the outside, and propagate by runners, with strawberry-leaf shaped leaves, they are strawberries, eat them.

I read it years ago and remember loving it. Of course you really can't go wrong with Twain.
I went into work at midnight last night and worked for 14 and a half hours. I still haven't slept. This is not how I had envisioned my first Father's Day. Right now the wife is playing pinball on the Wii. My stepson has never seen The Three Stooges. I plan on playing some Stooges DVDs later. Got to educate the youth.
Happy Father's day. Shame it couldn't have been better for you.
Also I agree it's hard to find a bad Twain story.

Quoted.
You finally changed your sig. Just as Strike Wolf stole Targetman's avatar. We have some identity issues in this thread.
It's all good. Yellowman had a good run.
I've been looking to change my sig for a while. I'm just waiting for a good opportunity. Namely something that gives me an idea of what to change it to.

Bill Murray was king back then. Not so much now.
Some time between when the clock struck 1990 and when it struck 1995, he lost his ability to be funny. I can't explain it myself, maybe some kind of extra-terrestrial joke but I do know that the same thing happened to Dan Akroyd only earlier say sometime between Ghostbusters and Caddyshack 2 (a horrible excuse for a sequel).

Wait you haven't taken the newbie challenge yet of actually reading every page? Shame on you target. Start with page 1 and don't come back until you've read every single page.
That could take him years...
Yes true, and he has shown exceptional loyalty to this thread, I suppose as elders we could make an exception in his case. Of course we'll still have to think of some alternative methods.

"If dickless here hadn't shut off the containment system"
...
"is that true?"
"yes, it's true, this man has no dick"
A good example of Bill Murray's kingness back then.
Yes, I especially loved him in What About Bob and Caddyshack.

Thankfully no....The vader we're talking about is mostly machine now.

That would really suck. Eventually i would walk up to the person making this movie and tell him I'm quitting. Heck my life's too short to be living the same day over and over again. I need variety people!

Which is exactly why in the original he goes through a phase of committing suicide more and more creatively, all to no avail.
I love that movie. But it doesn't answer a lot of the questions it always raises in
my head.

Father's day was great here. GOt up early to cook breakfast in bed. I didn't do anything fancy so just bacon and toast. At lunch me and my sister made home cooked pizzas on the grill an experience I actually found to be very fun. After that he unwrapped presents. The Godfather on DVD from me and a 6 pack of Sweet Water Road Trip from my sister. My other sister sent a present from El Paso but didn't arrive on time. So we spent the rest of the day mostly just watching the US Open and then my mom took my dad to a restaurant. Rather than watch TV and fix my own dinner while they were out, I went to see a movie, specifically The Hangover. Great movie. Utterly hilarious. I'll give my full review when midnight rolls around.

Yes, that part in the middle is the main reason why it can be labelled a dark comedy. I thought the best suicide was when he took the groundhog and dove over a cliff with it.

Well, Father's Day is just about over, and it was rounded out beautifully for me by a Monk marathon on Sleuth.
Incidentally, also over this weekedn I've played a coupla games of Narnia Risk, a boardgame I've had for several years and not got around to.
It's really good, though it's not "Risk", and not the "simpler version" it claims to be - it has far more rules than the classic.

It's time for Strike's Movie of the week...
THis week's movie is the Hangover.
THe Hangover is easily the best comedy I have seen this year, I would actually say it's the best comedy in at least two years. The humor probably isn't for everyone but really I found it to be a non-stop laugh fest. Really it's hard to identify points that weren't funny in this movie. I mean there are parts I could do without like the naked japanese guy but I still thought it was very well done. I also liked the plot of basically bachelor's party in Vegas gone bad.
So that's strike's movie of the week but wait that's not all for absolutely free you also get...
Strike's opinion of the day.
This week's opinion comes on music blasphemy.
First I would like to say that the accused this week simply said it to make a profit and were not actually serious however that is far from freeing them of this most heinous blasphemy. While watching a tribute band play Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album (a tribute band that I will admit was quite good). it was interrupted by marketers on thsi channel one of which said AND I QUOTE "this band is better than the original". I know this may seem like a small deal but to say that a simple tribute band is better than the original band especially to say that they are better than a band of Pink Floyd's caliber would be laughable if not for it's blatant disrespect for what the original band gave us.
