Why thank you, thank you. Did I ever mention that I'm an incorrigible liar?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Maybe... ;-)

I'm very new here and, although the dice sure do seem to have been going against me in highly improbable ways on the attack, I've notice the same thing happening to my opponents so it's sort of balanced out. I do have one observation though - or, I guess, one question: why do you bother to argue with Klobber? He clearly has no idea whatsoever what he's talking about and is completely uninterested in trying to understand what the rest of you are saying. It's not that he's incapable - he actually seems reasonably intelligent (in a thuggish sort of way). So really, you're just wasting your time. Though I have to admit I've found this thread (and the one about logic and God) mildly entertaining. My advice - just ignore him.

Lol, klobber has a fan!

I think the reason we feed the troll is right there in your post- he is entertaining. It gives us a sort of grim schadenfreude to imagine what kind of person klobber must be and what kind of life he must lead. ;)

It's like holding a doggy biscuit just out of reach of Fido then watching him jump. Of course, KLOBBER might see it in a diametrically opposite way...

Dice are haxxed!

I lost 13-2!!1

THAT IS NOT PHYSICAALY POSSIBLE!

[game]4987812[/game]

Also, I think it's pretty clear that zips5000 is a multi because he has only attacked neutral player once, and keeps targeting me.

How can you play risk with only two players? This can't be possible or fun.

Without knowing exactly how many you started with on the territory it's not possible to exactly calculate the odds of losing 13-2. However, I can make some basic assumptions and conclude that the odds of this happening are about 0.5%. Low, but certainly an event that we could expect to happen from time to time (if not daily) considering how many hundreds (or thousands) of times players start with numbers of troops similar to what you started with.

No way, you should never lose like that - the odds are like totally against it. What are the chances? No way, those dice must be totally unhinged. How does cc make those dice anyway, I heard computers can never be random, is that true? Probably premium players get an advantage, it's always about the money isn't it.

yah computers are just 1s and 0s programmed by men. How can they be random? Random means I lose 7 and he loses 8 not 13 to 2.

Random means often you win 8-7, but sometimes you lose 13-2. Always winning 8-7 is NOT random. I suggest you learn some basic statistics before you continue complaining.

I took statistics after my jogging for fitness class so i got tired and fall asleep. But I pass with B so I know statistics. p=.5 so 8 to 7 because i have more dice.

Check into what a bell curve is. Also, if it was always 8-7, that would be the exact opposite of random, and we'd know for sure the dice were fixed.

Go back to review you class notes.

p in your case is not .5, but is 0.005.

Think of it this way. When you are driving your car your chance of getting in an accident today is very very small. However, because of the huge number of people who are driving today there is a large chance (nearly 100%) that someone will be in an accident. Likewise when attacking 15 vs 4 (or whatever your case was) your chance of losing is very very small. But when you consider the thousands of cases daily with these same starting conditions, the odds that someone will lose is very high (almost 100%).

Here's another example.

If I hand you a grenade, tell you that there is a 99.5% chance that the grenade is a dud, and offer you $1 million to pull the pin, you might just do it. However, if I hand you 1000 identical grenades and offer you $1 million to pull all of the pins I doubt you would. You certainly wouldn't if you knew that the likelihood of all 1000 being duds was less than 1% (actually 0.67%).

In these examples while a single event may have a very low probability of happening, if the conditions repeat a large number of times then the probability of the event happening increases substantially (and can approach certainty).

I'm sorry, I don't get much enjoyment in making people write out long posts and then ignoring them like some Klobberish people do. I've been there, so I'll stop this now. I understand the statistics behind the dice, and am aware of how all this works. I was just venting a bit of frustration. Thanks for the impromptu backup, xelabale.

I normally notice that for a turn my dice are good or they are bad. IF my dice seem to be doing real good then i keep attacking. IF they lose a few times i just stop to not kill my whole army.

To me that is saying you believe the dice to be streaky...
i.e
if your on a winning roll keep going as the going is good..
if you are on a bad roll stop quick because you predict it will continue...

is that what you are saying?

i only ask because that is what so many people seem to say..wether there is any truth in it or not... i do the same...

If it was just the dice, you would have still had 3. You can't blame the dice for losing a 3v3.

People just have to stop blaming dice so much. They work as they should for me at least. I get my share of both good and bad dice. But of course the latter is easier to remember, which is why people think they have bad dice all the time.
