Manhunter was blatantly tongue-in-cheek, which a lot of people take to mean 'shite'. BUT IT'S NOT!!!

Oh crap, I hate you...
If I had to choose... I'd have to choose Hopkins, simply because he had more time in the character and was able to explore the range that the director allowed him.
Brian Cox was good, but I just didn't see enough of him to fully evaluate him as Lecter.

Saw Silence of the Lambs again about a year ago...I'd forgotten how creepy Hopkins can be...especially when he sucks in and bites the air at the same time. Yeek.
