Lupo I use photoshop. I could post the psd file but it may be too confusing. I'm pretty busy at work and don't have time to edit this map now. Plus summer vacation is coming up. I'll not abandon this map yet - just take some time off.

I do not want to substitute you (also, 'cause I haven't got your graphic skill), but I would like to post here my ideas in order that when you will have some more time, maybe you could take the ones you like more.

i think you should add corsica and label it "evil french land" And have -1 each turn. That would be hilarious!

Actually Corsica is more Italian than French although nowadays it is part of France!

If I'm looking at the correct version of the map (p 25) the name Isole Eolie is positioned over the sea lane. Its the only one and its makes it a little hard to read (esp in the small version). otherwise it looks pretty perfect.
I'm sorry if thats already been mentioned.
EDIT: I guess Veniza is that way too but it has a back glow that helps the letters pop out. which would be a fine solution as well. Otherwise you'd probably want to reroute the sealane around that Veniza text.

So...what's up with this map?
Is it getting quenched or are there still some amendments going on?

Because unfortunately it is part of France. It's like leaving California out of a US map so that you get the idea.
However this is not the France map so don't post in this thread about a map which you are never going to finish! :p Let's focus on Italy please.

I'd also like to know where development of this map is going. If there are no further changes can we have images with the army numbers, plus links to the images and XML.

I would like to post some possible developments and improvements about this map and discuss them together next week.

If you look at the compass you will notice north isn't directly up. The current angle of the map was chosen to keep the map from being too tall.

About the city bonus territory, I would suggest to use the most significant monument or symbol or flag of that city instead of using an arbitrary amount of land only to fit inside the army shadow.

Lupo, are you talking about adding some sort of icon to map, the help distinuguish the 'Cities' from the rest of the surrounding area?
I rather like it is a simply color difference. I think too many icons and symbols would perhaps clutter the map, and make organizing coordiates more difficult.

I would still prefer the "icons"; why?
1. The area given to the cities do not reflect reality and in more than 1 case, the city is far away from its city bonus territory.
2. Italy is the country of arts, so if you want to make of Italy without caring about it's geography, at least use some Italian masterpiece or whatever as icons for the map.
name of territories

Hi,
maybe I came too late, but I don't like too much the names "toscana ovest" "puglia settentrionale" ecc, there are some other names that are more poetic I think, for istance: "toscana est"="chiantishire" "toscana ovest"="etruria" ecc.
Or you can use the name of local wines, could be funny, for istance "piemonte"="barolo", "lombardia"="franciacorta", monferrato"="barbera", "romagna"="lambrusco" ecc..
good work all
e la città del vaticano?

You forgot vatican city inside rome, could be a nice variation, 1 point if you conquer it, but it only have border with the city of rome.
gg
what about a map of the seven hills of rome?

Hmm... I originally wanted to put the vatican as a territory, but couldn't fit it. And I attempted using flags/symbols for the city bonus but it just didn't fit with the style of the map. This is a very plain, soft (almost pastel) map which is what I wanted. I thought about adding landmarks (tower of pisa, roman architecture, mona lisa....) but its not what I was going after. Soon I will post some revisions here. Within the next couple of weeks. I'll scroll back through the last couple of pages & see what I come up with.
