let me know if you want my help. I think that applying the pressure to the team captains could work, but I found from experience that once a team knows it can't win a tournament, they tend to not give a shit.

Possibly at the halfway stage, you might want to think about eliminating 20 - 50% of the lowest scoring teams.

Thanks Pedro. With danryan's help I think we'll manage, but I'll let you know if you can do something.

ANNOUNCEMENT

In an effort to get everybody to join their games on time and keep all teams in the tournament I have accepted the offer by danryan to help me. Although the official rule of joining your games within 48 hours will remain, we will implement the following from now on:

For every round I will post the game rosters on page 1 with the game numbers so everybody can see who is supposed to join a game.
Every two weeks I will send a PM with the games to all players of all the teams, with auto-join links. This will happen Sunday afternoon US time or Sunday evening European time. This means that the 48 hr. deadline ends Tuesday afternoon/evening.
On Tuesday morning, danryan will check the games and send invites to those who have not joined a game yet. Those invites will expire on Wednesday morning. This will give everybody ample time no matter what time zone you're in.
On Wednesday morning, after the invites have expired, I will check the games and forfeit every game that has not been filled. If player(s) of 1 team have not joined the game by then, the win and the points go to the opponent. If both teams have player(s) that not joined the game, no points will be awarded.

Obviously Team Captains and other team members are encouraged to remind other players to join.

As a matter of fact, allow me remind the Team Captains of their responibilities:

TEAM CAPTAIN AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The team Captains have the following responsibilities:
1.- Sign up your team with a team name and the players and, of course, name the Captain.
2.- Make sure your team members are all officers at the time of signing up.
3.- Make sure you have enough officers on your team to be able to keep participating.
4.- Register any team changes with the organizers.
5.- Assign players for the games for every round.
6.- Ensure that your team members sign up within the time limit and with the correct team mate(s).
7.- Ensure that the organizer is notified of the results of the games a.s.a.p.
8.- In general ensure that there will be as little delay as possible during this tournament.

Hey guys, I have an idea. Since we have a Christmas break coming up after the start of the next round, how about I set up a bunch of 4 or 6 player games on various maps with different settings. Players from all teams can join with 1 player per team, per game. The winner could earn some extra points for the team and maybe I can even throw in a General Achievement Medal for the player that earns the most points for his team (for example).

Remember that for the tournament team wins count and NOT points, they come in play only if teams have the same amount of wins.

Just thought that may be a bit of added fun during the break.

Ok, maybe I need to clarify: I'm not trying to "change the rules" and if a few points are an issue I'll drop that part.

The idea is to have some fun games with fellow TLOers who would like to play a few extra, fun games outside the normal team format. Nobody has to play if they don't want to.

For the record: I'm also not the one who needs a Christmas break, but I know many players would appreciate it.

I'll drop the points and see if I can figure something else out to have a few fun games with the ones interested.
