4,796 ... I guess the current "conqueror" will be dropping off the active list too in a rage/hissy quit as soon as josko topples them.

Someone (not me) should go put some speed games on twitch/youtube. There are lots of very popular videos for the other risk game despite it having the ugliest looking maps that lack any personality and no teams games.

I know the game that you're talking about. It's crap compared to CC and has a Twitch following.

I did mention this before about finding people who wouldn't mind putting sunny speed games on Twitch. Or making a tournament of that kind to make it interesting. Obviously games would have to be played to a schedule for it to work. Don't think they liked the idea though.

How do you get people to view your twitch ?
I wouldn't mind doing it and play sunny speed games for it.
But I've never used or watched twitch and I doubt people would find it interesting to look at me playing the games.
Could you develop the idea ?

Why do we need a schedule, is twitch live only ?

1) Click on MAPS / STATISTICS / GAMES PER MONTH

2) Characterize games by "simple" vs. "medium" vs. "complex" meaning with or without complicated rules, obscure victory conditions, lots of explanations on the map, and the like. Admittedly this is a somewhat subjective exercise but I suspect most of us would come up with quite similar lists.

3) Take the top five simple games; add up games per month. Ditto for medium and complex.

My calculation: 38,904 simple, 11,272 medium; 6,385 complex

How I rated them:

Simple: Classic, Doodle, Luxembourg, World 2.1, British Isles
Medium: Baltic Crusades, Feudal War, Feudal Epic, American Civil War, Peloponnesian War
Complex: Arms Race, American Civil War, Age Of Realms 2: Magic, Age Of Realms 1: Might, Europe 1914

4) Now go back to the statistics table, click on "Release Date", scroll to the bottom and look at the five most recent, full or beta. All VERY complex.

5) Draw a conclusion.

Yeah twitch is live only. If you really want to make it popular you need regular streams and then uploads to YouTube, you can just straight upload unedited streams. It takes a while to build a following, streamers are grouped under games. I'm not sure how strict twitch is on policing game categories because this is technically a different game.

When I checked just now there were 10 active streamers with 68 viewers between them, 22 viewers on the most popular. None of these appeared to be big popular streamers. The most popular I know of gets around 200 active viewers. When it hits YouTube that same guy gets 20k for most videos, double that for popular videos, top videos over 1 million viewers. There is a large audience for online risk in 2022.

Generally to be popular you need to be an entertainer as well and or educational. And you would need to be reliable, consistent and willing to put your face and voice on the Internet.

Excactly this. It has to be someone chatty and charismatic so people would engage to the video and may be willing to come to CC.

Does CC have a policy regarding content creation? At first glance, it seems like content creation would be in violation of the intellectual property section of the Terms of Use. Similarly, I'm not sure if CC even has the ability to give permission to use user made maps outside of CC, as that may not have been part of the copyright agreement originally signed.

Many of the recent posts here in this thread seem to me to be good ideas to increase interest in CC.

It's much slower than I thought. Last time I played was in 2020 (the lockdown effect) and it didn't seem to be bad, probably because many people jumped in simultaneously. Now, it's the first time I feel CC is so miserable and clinically dead. Well, unless you are one of those who indulge in clan competitions.

Regardless of these figures we see on the Scoreboard, how many members are actually active and play on a regular basis?

Sorry if this annoys you, but I find this number too optimistic.

Some "newbies" do not get time to acclimatize. They are new because they joined less then a year ago, so they are learning, and then they get confronted by a shitload of "unwritten" rules or called out because they did not follow "rules" they were ignorant on. Just knowing the "unwritten' rules on ending truce or NAP as some call it is quit someting '2t - breaker attacks second" in all the different varieties?...then Ranching, farming on sarge level inviting Corporals..."oh you get a ban for that, didn't you know?" - euh no dude? I missed that part in the "rules" section, - sorry you dope, you should have known that...it's an unwritten rule and btw you can't invite lower ranks as that can be seen as ranching even if it is just a one rank lower than you...that's an unwritten rule too. Don't say this did not happen because i saw examples here. Even a major complaining he got ranched by a sarge lmao! So you can't invite players 2 ranks higher than you either - so why is there an invite system in the first place as this can al be seen against the "unwritten rules" you can get busted for in the cheats section? Just follow some discussions on Josko.ri and the payers who are against him or for him... then try to imagine these were all newbies making the same argument...everybody would agree that this would not count for a newbie.. funny things..as some newbies get punished for breaking rules they did not knew exist...But conducting secret diplomacy (which everybody feels like is cheating - even newbies - is allright as that is "hard to prove" (don't say it aint so). Result: newbies don't understand iota and leave the site- i've seen this happen on at least 6 "newbies" while they were on premium. So imagine the total amount?

Most new players join this site to have fun and play some games, nobody is interested in rank upon joining, that only comes due the "cc rank system" over time..

I agree that the "unwritten" rules are good, but it takes time to learn them and that time is not being given to new players.. How many active premium players are here that joined in 2021 (at least 1 year of premium)?

So not many new players will stay and since it is only normal "old players" drop out (real life issues happen like death, changing family situations, work, disease, other issues.. you know) you don't have to be a rocketscience guy to know that number will decline over time.

The only question is, when does it reach bottom rock?, meaning there are not enough premiums to get break even on costs.

This site has so much strong assests like the 24h turn, and some awesome risk maps that you can't find nowhere else in the world, but new players are not given time to learn - everybody is focussed on rank and it can get toxic sometimes
