I'm ok with you thinking my humor type is backward, but these are the types of humor I really hate:

The Three Stooges
Steve Martin
Jim Carrey
Most of Robin Williams Stuff
Rob Schneider
Pauly Shore
Brendan Fraser
Most of Chevy Chase's stuff
Most Monty Python stuff

I like humor to make me think.

You don't exist anymore as far as I am concerned.
These 3 movies are GREAT and certainly not overrated.
I bet if you ask someone in the street "What do you think of Requiem for a Dream" they'll answer "what's that?" or "Yeah Mozart, he was great".

But to answer your question:

The Tree of Life

Most boring movie I've ever seen.
All this rethorical BS with stars and dinosaurs....
I don't know why I watched till the end.

Haha, that movie was hilarious!

It was definitely captivating.... I don't recall much hype before seeing the film, so I can't label it as "overrated." I'm not familiar with the post-screening reviews...

My type of humor is Arrested Development / The Office-esque. I'll resound the echo of Monty Python not being that good.

I have strong opinions on Forrest Gump. So don't read if you don't feel like seeing strong opinions.

The movie is stupid. The premise itself is absurd, nevermind that a movie was made based on the premise (mentally deficient man goes through history doing great things and gets the girl in the end). The only scene that was anywhere remotely good was fantastic: the scene where Forrest meets his son. The movie was basically an exercise in masturbation for the filmmaker and the audience that met the filmmakers requirements: namely, baby boomer types. "Oh hey, remember Vietnam? Isn't that cool that mentally deficient guy fought in Vietnam?" I generally dislike movies about mentally deficient people because they are just appeals to our kinder, gentler nature and are created simply to get Academy Awards. This piece of crap had that going for it with the additional Academy Award getter of "hey, relive your life baby boomers - most important generation!" So, yeah, it's overrated.

No, it was just off the top of my head. The general idea is that I don't like stupid or slapstick humor.

I'm sort of upset that you've lumped Python in with Pauley Shore, etc. I vomitted in my mouth a little actually. I'm also sort of offended that you consider Python to be slapstick humor.

Do you like Eddie Izzard? If you haven't listened to him, check him out. He's considered an honorary Python.

I don't consider Python to be slapstick humor. I consider it to be stupid humor. Much like Pauley Shore, actually (though if pressed, I would definitely choose Python over Shore!). Sorry.

It's a Wes Anderson film. Definitely worth checking out his work. I love all his films. Jonesy has panned everything he's seen by Wes.
Here's a list of his films:
Bottle Rocket (1996)
Rushmore (1998)
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)
The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (filming)

Cant believe the post that started this thread req 4 dream a really fine film as was lebowski still all subjective, here's mine.

inglorious basterds - the first scene was breathtaking and had the promise of a film, it was all down hill to trashy movie from then.

the untouchables - with kevin costner et al. it was the worst movie ever made until the one above took the tittle

pulp fiction - i was about 13 when it came out and sure it broke a lot of ground in order, plot and stylised violence but watching it later what the f was the world thinking? really crap , tarantino has been riding the wave ever since - yes he works hard and is brilliant at what he does but his mind could easily create something even more way out there that no one is ready for, but its just the same old same old

tom hanks is definetely on the black list - the last movie of his worthwatching was the burbs when he became a "serious" actor he stopped playing parts - its just tom hanks trying to act. One exception is catch me if you can but he's still very nauseating. unlike adam sandler or jim carrey he should have stuck to watch-it-once comedies.

george clooney hovers on and off my blacklist simply because he can really act well.......and then chooses not too. Its like he has two price schedules one to work and one just to bring that chin and draw the crowds.

also bruce willis, tom cruise, john travolta, madonna, meryl streep seem to do that thing you know - your hosting a dinner party and just at the third course someone decides to jump on the table and shit all over the fine meal and chosen company.

Agree with the bolded stuff.
I can't particularly remember Jim Carrey outside of Yes Man. (Yes Man was a great movie, by the way.) I think I don't appreciate most of his work though.
Robin Williams was good but I think mostly became annoying at a certain point.
Don't know Pauly Shore, Brendan Fraser or Chevy Chase.
I enjoyed Monty Python and the Holy Grail... especially the part in which it shows that guy in the dungeon clapping along randomly.
But I strongly agree with slapstick type humor being lame.
I favor wit.
