Did you know that it was actually Athens, and not the whole of Greece?Joodoo wrote:Did you know that Ancient Greece was the first democracy in the world?

yeah, he's right. the USA isn't a democracy, it's a republic. one of the limitations of pure democracy (like pure communism) is that it only works on a small scale. Democracy worked in Athens because it was a city-state.Hologram wrote:Did you know that it was also one of the only democracies?muy_thaiguy wrote:Did you know that it was actually Athens, and not the whole of Greece?Joodoo wrote:Did you know that Ancient Greece was the first democracy in the world?
Interesting. Yet, it seems to happen with a lot of former great empires.Khuntlipz wrote:Did you know that the most densly populated town in europe is London? Closely followed by Portsmouth.
And that the biggest council estate in Europe in in Basingstoke, England
Also, the highest rate of teen pregnancy in europe is in england
Also, the highest rate of drug-abusers in europe is in england
Also the lowest quality of life within the G8 is in England
And that once upon a time, the mongolians were the largest, most successful empir in the whole of the world?
Now the mongolians are a poverty-striken, inconfident race of people who the whole world has forgotten?

facetious is only the most common, not the only one. Some but not all are:reminisco wrote:did you know that "facetious" is the only word in the English language with all of the vowels in order?
and if you need to include the 'y', just make it an adverb.

It basically means using long words.reminisco wrote:wow, yeah, you're right. good words, too.gryffin13 wrote:facetious is only the most common, not the only one. i should fucking write to Trivial Pursuit. can't believe i didn't think of the ones you listed, cause i know those words, and have used them before.
although, there's one problem... adventitious... doesn't work cause it repeats the letter "i"... but abstemious, no doubt.
