It's interesting to see how many people are convinced of their intelligence, be they right or not.

Its not an entirely different question, since a pre-requisite of being an intellectual is that you have some intelligence. You cant be a thick intellectual, apart from Freud, of course

To specualate,i reckon most of the people that post are quite bright-but theres VERY FEW very bright people out there.
But theres a lot of good people out there, simple souls that love to be dazzled by pseudo intellectuals like me self, which makes life nice and easy

I disagree. Intellectual has a very narrow meaning, and I would argue it doesn't even require intelligence.

Hmm. A thinker, maybe? I guess it requires average intelligence. But I need to think about it more -- its tough to find words for at the moment.

I think i see what you mean- a questioning mind? But to make any sense out of the questions (eg why is the sky blue...what is the sun...what are photons etc) requires an ability to make logical lins. And intelligence means the "ability to make links" (a rough translation, but intel=link, anyway)

So i reckon you have to be intelligent to be an intellectual.
And 29 Angels can dance on top of a pin head.

I'm seeing some confusion here... and I'm a bit confused myself. Well here are my answers:
I do not think I'm intelligent. Why, I've always believed the saying "There is always a mountain higher than another mountain (it's a
Chinese idiom so when translated it might seem confusing)." It means that someone will always be better than you in some way. I believe that a lot of people are smarter than me, and I don't think they're all intelligent.
As for "Are you intelligent?", I would say that I don't know. I think that I'm not intelligent, but is there an extremely accurate way to test anyone's intelligence? A lot of people today cannot trust IQ tests even if the tests shows that they have high IQ. It's even hard for me to accurately define intelligence, because there are a lot of different definitions for the word. The meaning of "intelligence" is something that I think is too complex to fully understand.

True, but I'm fairly certain the general meaning here is how much you know (about history, politics, etc.) and how your logic is (e.g. in arguments and debates).

I'm so-so with logic, especially when it comes to "thinking on your feet" logic (like creativity, but that's only if you consider creativity to be part of intelligence). But... since I haven't even graduated from high school yet and I don't do a lot of random info searching on the internet, I wouldn't say that I know much...

I consider my self intelligent, some people I know wouldn't.

I was on "15 to 1" once.
My "make it 15 to 2" campaign might give you a clue as to how I did.
