Suggs summed it up very well a while ago -- I think I'll go find that post...

I will take character over charisma any day. experience and honesty are tied for second. f*ck charisma... I know plenty of charismatic people... but I would have to kill them if they were in charge of my political system.

Alright, you said "best decider"... obviously I don't think it's the most important characteristic, but I do think it helps.

If I were to rank the most important qualities, I'd do it this way:

1. Have the country's best interests at heart
2. Intelligence
3. Strong-will
4. Personability

By personability I mean having both charisma and an open-mind. You need to be able to listen to people as well as give them orders, and to know when.

I think charisma is important because it helps unite people in general. It also can be extremely important when meeting with world leaders. The lack of FDR's charisma once Truman became President, for example, caused tensions between Churchill and Stalin. Lincoln managed to keep together an extremely well-qualified Cabinet that was unfortunately also filled with large egos simply because of his charisma. And have no doubt that these two things GREATLY aided their success in both the Civil War and World War II.

Deadpool809 wrote:It shouldn't be. I have had the same tired debate with liberals of all stripes with the same tired position. It is pointless - you choose to see reality how you like, because you are more interested in hating Bush than actually having a real debate about the workings of anything.

I'm not a Liberal...but you are correct. I do hate the incredible failure we sadly have to call our President. And we have the lovely state of the nation to thank him for.

Hey! We have TWO things in common!

Deadpool809 wrote:I have just learned through much experience to not even bother trying to talk sense into people like you. Your mind is made up - and no amount of reality will change that.

Yup...kinda like talking to christians, although I still give it a go for fun. ;)

Deadpool809 wrote: You wanna vote for Obama because it makes you feel good - and that's fine with me.

Actually, I haven't decided who I WILL vote for...only who I WON'T, and that's "Pops McCain". I wonder if his nurse installed that color TV in his room yet?

Deadpool809 wrote:Not trying to be hostile, but really - if you are going to dance around here and smile like "ha ha, he knows I am right, that is why he won't debate it" - that just isn't the case. I know it is a waste of time, and it makes way more sense to just pass.

If that makes you feel better, by all means do it. It has been nice chatting with you.

He's fascinating huh? Does he make you weak in the knees and light headed with his incredible speaking abilities?

The only thing fascinating about him is the blue-gray color of his lips and what he's been having to do to make them that way

I no longer get your point. :?

I'm a junior in high school and so far I've displayed more education than you have in this thread. Why don't you prove you have some before you insinuate that I don't just because you disagree with me.

Also, you make a fool of yourself by saying I'm a retard in one post and then following it up with an insinuation that I am uneducated. Obviously you are unaware of the difference -- perhaps your teachers figured such things were at too high a level for you??

I watched the whole thing, but I forgot what it said at the end.

Please do enlighten me as to how I am being a retard. I'm sure it isn't a baseless accusation at all.
