no, the OP already stated that only THOTA was worthy of being on the list. afterall, he declared that they come up more often than every other clan, and he has conducted an exhaustive study to come to this conclusion...-0

Thank you Owen, you're making me blush now

I've added those clans (for now), and they're in blue; so any mistakes with those will be spotted easily 8-)

I dont think any clans should be on the list, or at least give them there own section, reason being we have so many clans, many active, many new clans, many clans that die and get deleted, it wouldnt be fair to include some like THOTA and leave out some of the brand new clans, and keeping it as up to date as it would need to be would be a nightmare

i think he is trying to list those whose acronyms are thrown about the forums regularly... not the clans that flame out, like the Phoenix Lame Ducks...-0

I see what you're saying; and that's partly why I wasn't sure about including them - but we'll see how it goes :)

As for putting the clans in their own section : a player who looks up a term in the glossary will not know what it means (most of the time), and so would not know to look in the Clan Section for "BPB".

Thanks for the suggestions :D

Man I got Sullied !

haha!

Now the real problem is that some people think hanging is always a bad thing. But if sending one person to the executioner prevents you from stepping to the gallows yourself it is often a necessary step. Especially if you make sure the person will still kick and scream while being hung, which is a given if you do it to Scott ;)

Hehee- I will have to agree with you there but that's because there are only three reasons why one should attack; to gain position, isolation to prevent a kill, and the kill itself. Intentionally Sullying a player is definitely not one of the reasons. ;)

Hell I don't even hit a player to prevent a kill if it doesn't buy me a turn....you'd be surprised how many players do *ahem* and how many would be wrong in doing so. Add this to the list-- transferring wins when that happens.

You've undertaken a big task ManBungalow. You might end up having to categorise all the terms in the glossary you've started. I hope you stick at it, it would certainly be a valuable reference point for other users posting on this forum.

"Congratulations" AKA 'Congs', 'Congrats', 'Congratz'

Shows as a title in many GD threads. Given as soon as a member of the site manages to achieve a certain level of rankness.

To be honest I'm comfortable with the definition I have up there at the moment; but it anyone else wants to side with Downey I'll look into it.

Thanks :)
I was wondering if I couldn't categorise the list in any way. I couldn't think of a way to do it though, so I'm open to ideas (as ever) :)

Alphabetical is the only reasonable way. This is meant to be useful for people who have no idea what the terms/acronyms mean. If they don't know what it means, they can't know which "category" it might be in, but most people can follow an alphabetical list to find a word.

That was my reasoning, as well :)

Multi hunters are often just called "Hunters" :) Might be worth inlcuding.

Dice are now "Assault Intensity Levels"

"CA" is in the Foundry, Cartography Assistant -- Foundry Mods that help facilitate map production.

There's also the term 'Assbourg'... same as Assdoodle, except it's on Luxembourg. I suppose you could make Ass-anything, but these two maps are the ones that attract that game setting the most by far.

Thanks, Andy. If a New Recruit isn't sure what an "Assault Intensity Level" is then it may be worth including a picture in the instructions page on which they are described...
:)

I should probably draw the line after these two ;)

"Mixed" or "rainbow" refer to what you've called RGB (which I've never heard) in a flat rate game. eg. In team chat "I've got a mixed" means a red, green, blue set.
ManBungalow wrote:Oh - and can anyone offer a better description of "Taking the mick" ??
That's not a CC term, I don't know why you would include it. If someone doesn't understand english phrases, they can look them up somewhere else.

*edit* Thought up some others, refering to escalating strategy. You'd hear them more in the strategy forums than in games, unless you're new and playing a bunch of seasoned escalating players, then you might read it in game chat as they snicker at your poor moves. "Fronts" are the number of different paths you will have to take to eliminate a player. For example, if one person controls Eastern Australia, Western Australia, New Zealand, Ontario, East Africa, Kamchatka and Japan, then they have 4 fronts, because you can use one army to attack each different coloured group. It can also refer to your own territories, when they can attack certain enemy fronts. "Distributing" means deploying armies on different territories to attack different fronts. If you distribute evenly, then you have an equal chance of winning the battles on each front. If you don't distribute evenly, then you are "hedging". This refers to placing more armies than necessary on some territories, with the intention to attack from spots with a lower chance of winning first, and thus limit the damage you can do if you fail, making it less likely to hang a person. Hedging also places armies where they will be more useful in eliminating the next player, once the first elimination is a success.

Again, what's the point? If it's not CC related, the confused person can look it up anywhere. JFGI. And if you think it's Quantum Field Theory that everyone here is talking about when they have nothing valuable to add, then you've got bigger problems than acronyms.
