I came in here to say the same think about the seven kingdoms of Westros. I think was can solve the problem of the size issue by keeping the North relatively small. 7 kingdoms could equal seven continents. A way that we can prevent the game play from becoming too horizontal is by using the free cities as a way to attack the Vale from Drone.

Shrinking the North, I suppose if you only went down as far as Winterfell and ignored the wall maybe you could maybe make it fit.
Would there be a way to put the North and South side by side but have the routes between them obvious, without it being confusing or looking stupid.

I think it could be easily done. You would have to include the summer seas to the east, probably your aussie-like continent. You could also include the lands across the sea to the south that Danerys is currently on (cant remember what theyre called). Or you coulod just use Westeros and include the multiple sea routes mentioned in the books. I would like to keep the wall in play, sorta like Hadrians wall in the British Isles map. The north could be like a 5 territory (the Frostfangs, The Haunted Forest, Thenn, Skagos Island and Bear Island) 4 turn in with 2 sea route exits (Bear Island > The North and Skagos to The Fingers/Vale of Arryn <Tyrions route to the wall>) and, as mentioned above the one entrance through the wall and the sea routes.
I am on my out of work but will expound on more possibilities later.

Yeah, I was thinking that the wall would be a one way attack route as well.
Look at this map to appreciate just how much detail would be involved (I do appreciate how much detail we can lose from hat map and still have a good playable design though).

It lends itself well to continents as each area controlled by a great house would be a continent, well that's how I'd do it anyway.

I know there's a map of China in development, but has anyone ever played Romance of the three Kingdoms on NES, SNES or PS2? If a map was made, it could contain cities, provinces and be divided into three kingdoms...
World after global warming

So I have an interesting idea for a map. World after global warming. Take a world topographical map and increase the ocean level to its predicted height after the glaciers melt. I would throw together a map for this to see what it would look like but I can’t find good detailed topographical maps to base it on.

Hmm I just had an idea for map. However I don't have skills to do it but if anyone would like to make it I would be glad to put some ideas to it.
OK I think that someone should make map like motherboard inside computer. Different parts of casing would be different continents and like hard drive then CPU RAM Graphic card and so ona nd so on. So if anyone would like to do it feel free.
Maybe you could put credits also to me for idea

How about the Roman Empire? I know it might be essentially Europe with a little of North Africa? Maybe just a map of the Mediterranean Sea?

Ok I just thought of a map that could be fun in theory. A map based on the princess bride. Territories can include the fire swamps, the cliffs of insanity, eel infested waters, the Pit of Despair and full continents for florin and gilder.

how about a map of a baseball field, each position is a territory, the ground the player has to cover is their territory. The biggest territory would be center field since they cover the most ground

i tried that ages ago it was woo much like europe (which is anoying as europe isn't really europe but that general aria, i dont like having two continents that arn't europe when the bits that are are so squished and generalised)

Would it be possible to do a map based on the game 'Diplomacy'?
Continents could be based on the initial countries starting locations and each supply centre could be worth +1 reinforcements. You'd have to replace ocean tiles with connections but that should be too much of a problem.
(I'd be happy to make the map myself I just don't know if taking the map from another game would be a breach of copyright or anything like that)

I was in the back of a taxi the other day looking at the map of the five boroughs and couldn't help noticing how New York was a perfect, natural conquerclub map. See for yourself:
This map could also include NJ to the West.
Each of the neighborhoods could easily be countries and it all seems to work perfectly.
I've never created a map, so if anyone with some experience would like to work on this with me, let me know. I can come up with many more creative ideas to set this apart from most maps.
Also, I looked briefly but am not sure whether this idea of the five boroughs has already been proposed.

Hello from New Zealand. A map of "New Zealand" would be greatly appreciated. Maybe North/South & Stewart islands, just a thought for those with the ability to create maps. The Dragon.
