Then you shouldn't expect other people to read yours.

It could be interesting if we can select the time of turns creating a new game: 1 hour, 8 hours, or 24. I have no idea if this is possible, easy or difficult to do.

This has been very widely discussed and eveyone seems all for it and I think Lack has it somewhere on his to-do list. Granted it still may take a looong time to get implemented.

Game limits

i have no prob with only four games per person, but when you get eliminated, i think that should count as your game ending and being able to pick another game instead of having it count as four games until everyone is finished...

ive been eliminated from a game and would just like to join another game so i can be active in four games instead of only three, and having one where i can only talk in... so ya...

It doesn't end for you because you lose different amounts of points depending on the player that does win. :D

Speed Games / Varying Turn Time Limits [Done]

Posted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:43 pm
by mbohn2
Mod Edit: This is a mass thread of almost every single speed game or real time thread ever created. Since it is very unlikely that every single option will be implemented into the site, they have been compiled here. Should you find yourself desiring a specific time limit, please post in this thread. It is more than likely already in here.

For simplicity's sake, suggestions similar to the below post have also been merged.

Official Suggestion
Concise description:
  • Allow users to manually select a wide range of round limits.

Specifics/Details:
  • Include 7, 10, 15, 20, and 30 minute real-time/speed game options
  • Include some standard of customization (drop down menu or fill in box) in the overall range of 1 min to 24 hours

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Increase user activity
  • Time limits can be custom made to fit your needs
  • Other unspecified benefits

If you find any other threads that need to be merged, please inform a Suggestions Moderator -JK

Many things are currently on Lack's to do list. For the time being, the Callouts forum is great for setting up real time games. There always seem to be a few lurking there, searching for some real time action.

...or...why not make it an option in the 'create a game' menu? I mean everything else is there: how many players, freeplay, double turns, etc. Why not also give the person creating the game the option to pick a maximum time limit between turns from a predetermined drop down list that any other player can view prior to joining the game?

Psst....'To Do' List. ;)

Sticky?

Perhaps as a bridge fix, could the mods set up a sticky in callouts for realtime?

It would be even better if the posts in that thread expired after a set period of time ( 1 hour for example).

I'm afraid it might be hard to get individual games up and running in only one post. For the most part a new topic titled 'Real Time <date/time>' works rather well. I'll look into it though.

real-time as start game option

When creating a new game, maybe there could be a real time tick-box and a box to enter an expiry time, so if you want a game, but it needs to start within an hour you put that in, then hopefully there wouldn't be loads of half started games floating around, clogging the system...

Something similar will be in effect when lack works on 'Varying Time Limits', as noted in the Suggestions Box.

that would have been a good place to look! but I think adding an expiry time might be a good option, too. obviously you could just leave the box empty and have no expiry...

Real time games

Don't know if this as been suggested but there should be an option for real time game.

A person would have two options for time:
Normal = 24 hour rule, per turn
Real Time = 15min rule, per turn

Hope that makes sence

Sure, why not. And for those of us like myself whose computer tends to crash we can just continue playing realtimes in standard mode.

I won't use this feature, but I like the idea.

i was actually about to come in here and suggest this. amazing.

make RTG checkbox option. that would be sweet action. and then if someone leaves you only have to wait 45 minutes before they get the boot!

Has been suggested under 'varying turn limits', and is on Lack's To-Do list. Please search before posting.

its either saying something has already been reccomended
or explaining something to someone is all you ever do in Suggestions & Bug Reports
