This might work for your corkboard
just need a bit of cropping to fit the map, maybe soe resizing, but not much larger....

Sorry again for the lack of updates. I tried implementing a few of the suggestions people gave just now.
I added shadows to the darts to make them look more 3D. I think they look decent, but let me know if they need to be roatated or resized to look like its from a realistic light source.
Also, I ditched the chalkboard idea for now because I didn't think it fit well (even though I guess some sets have that incorporated). I wanted to try the corkboard idea, but anything displayed on a corkboard is on a seperate piece of paper tacked to the surface. There is so much text that the paper would cover up the cork board and I don't think you could tell what was going on.
So instead of that I'm trying to make it look like a poster you might see tacked up in a bar. It seems to fit better than the chalkboard I think.

Oh, and I still like the idea of the top left corner of the title curling down...I just couldn't come up with a way to do that, but I'm keeping the idea in mind.

I was skeptical of the idea, but this is looking great

I think you are on the right track with the side legend.
Though I think you should make some correlations between the side legend visuals and the title visuals. I.E. make the side legend look like real paper, and not just a white rectangle. I think as many have suggested for the title, curling the bottom of the legend up a bit (almost like in a scroll fashion), and perhaps the top also. Perhaps a few dart holes/rips/tears/jagged edges on the side paper, to add to the realism.
I like the 'Open...' part, perhaps use color instead of just black outlining. Maybe a darker red or blue. Anything really except for bright colors.
The colors in the side legend, in the dartboard and rectangle near it, are still a little washy looking. But this could be cleared up by saving it as a different file format for the finished product, correct?
Anyways, this map is coming along nice, perhaps soon I'll be able to slap a Final Forge on this one and get it near completion.

Yeah, I think the whole map is a bit blurred because of the way I've been uploading and saving the files. Perhaps theres a better way to do it, but when I submit the final copy I'll do it SVG format like it is in inkscape and all the colors/lines will be crisper.
I agree that the legend needs to look more like paper. I'll see about getting some type of texture I can overlay with it and adding a few holes or tears perhaps.
And if I can curl the title I will do the same with the legend- perhaps by taking away the bottom two tacks and curling those corners up a bit.

i think the darts and shadows need to be moved a little because right now it looks like some one put on those darts shooting at like a 20 degree angle (90 degrees is what you normaly shoot at strait forward)
if you want the shadows to be from one source (im going to refer to the light source that you used on the dart board) then the left dart's shadow needs to be shorter and lower
maybe you might want to add shadows to the thumbtacks holding up the poster

i agree w/ Andy, make the legend in the style of the title part, and it'll look great. I tihnk the shadows on the artboard aren't working though, the shadow on the darts can stay, but the board still looks two dimensional. i'm no photoshop expert but maybe if you made the shadow circle larger, and made it a gradient it migfht make the dart board look thicker than a piece of paper.

Change the 4 to something else. when i first read it i thought it said "open 'til yam, nd i was like wtf, then realised it was a 4.
Ur shaddows are inconsistant. add shadows for the pins and the curls when you add them. Where is your light source coming from to create the shaddows? By looking at the dart board its coming from the top left had corner, but the shadows of the darts doesnt support that, they are not also going to the bottom right.

yeah, it looks like it could be a really good map once you get those graphical problems that they were talking about fixed. BTW: I think it looks pretty good, even with the shadows being weird.

I am still working on it- sorry for the lack of updates. I tried several ways to make the shadows look appropriate but none worked. I think I have come up with a way (as well as redrawing the 3 darts so they look more realistic and come in at a steeper angle) but its a lot of work and I keep putting it off. Hopefully within a week I will have a new working version with good looking shadows.

idea is great but only if you dont use diagonal attacks

lol, sorry cdman but I abandoned the idea a while ago. I just never wanted to post that because I didn't see a reason to bump the thread.
My main reason for wanting to make the map originally was because it would be much larger than normal, and I love maps with a lot of territories. I also thought the large amount of continents, with each one being hard to hold would be different, though the playability was always questionable.
After world 2.0 got off the ground I didn't see a need for this map any more because world 2.0 did a better job of providing everything I wanted. I have thought about finishing it a few times, and I have worked on the graphics sporadically, but the interest in this map was always a bit lacking so I have essentially abandoned (I would work on it again if there was a huge public outcry, but I don't see that happening

)

Actually, looking at the poll results and rereading some of the later posts, it does seem like more and more people were liking the map. I guess the real reason I stopped working on it for so long was my own dissatisfaction.
I tried new darts, I tried a lot of different ways to make the shadows look right and they all failed, and I got frustrated.
However in the recent months, others have posted some 3D-ish maps as well, and I think I know how to fix most of the problems I was having. So heck, I may just update eventually.

please do, this map isn't anything like world 2.0, it has a mix of several maps. I especially like the hard to hold continents and it would make a great doubles map. I don't think that you should be able to diaginal attack.
It really does look cool and I think that you should get back to it, especially when you finish with your other map.

bulls eye bonus

I like the idea of bulls eye bonus of +5, but someone could get all 4 countries of bulls eye from the start and that would be too much of an advantage.
How about bulls eys plus at least one continent to get the +5 bonus?

I didn't take the time to read the thread, but has anyone mentioned having ring be separate continents?

I like it. I'd play it. I also vote no diagonal attacks and small bonus for holding the bullseye.
