Somepeople user their usernames across many different websites, google can sleuth out a fair amount of information if this is the case and the username is unique enough. It can be easy to ferret out a whole host of personal information through manual methods.

He's not a n00b he's one of the most obvious multis I have seen in a while. MrWainthrope was on the site about an hour and had a sig and an avy and was already posting all over the place. That doesn't say say n00b to me, that screams MULTI.

Both, and he can do it without breaking any rules on personal information by simply referencing the court order that directs the owners of this site to remove the offender permanently. I hope he succeeds.

Mr Wainthrope has never spoken to Mr Woodruff, and his avatar is a member of his own family. He is disappointed that you would bring his name into this affair so baselessly and speculatively.

While he may not be an innocent, he has absolutely nothing to do with this particular incident and is as concerned by it as all of the rest of you.

This is the part I think MANY younger posters just don't realize.

I am fairly paranoid, but I have posted enough that many people who know me well would likely recognize my identity if they came here. And, while I have kept out a lot of details, I have posted enough that people could use that to track me if they wished. The thing is, there is no real reason why people would "come after" me... other than a random jerk.

You obviously take the threat seriously, so youd be insane to stay, if you feel the safety of your family or students is in jeopardy.

I do however think you went too far blaming moderators for some kid threatening to kill you. Its not their fault, their powers to stop it are pretty damn limited, and while I understand your frustration, I wish you held back just a bit there, because you undid alot of the messages youve typed out over the years.

If you did this graciously, and not retaliatory, it would have been much better. Now unfortunately, it seems your main point of the thread is to not explain why you are leaving, but to bash the moderators and the site.

Youre not the first, and you wont be the last, but its a damn shame from my point of view.

I don't think the guy can be blamed for being emotional when someone made a threat to his life. I think you're being a bit severe here and really need to lighten up.

I also think you misrepresent what Woody was saying. He didn't want help in stopping the death threats, he wanted help in "tak[ing] action to work with [him] (see OP)" on the issue. There's a big difference, so you're purposefully obfuscating the point of his argument in order to defend the site and try to turn it around back on him.

That's really low class, man. Don't attack the victim, and I should say, a much bigger damn shame than the damn shame you're accusing Woody of, dammit.

I think you are missing the point. Woody is taking legal action. I hope the admins take that seriously, because it can be damn serious. Death threats are a form of bullying and should not be tolerated.
