Hmmm...perhaps this is the same task force which is helping us understand how the stimulus money is saving or creating new jobs in non-existent congressional districts.

I totally trust the Obama administration to reform health care. The government does a much better job than the private sector when it comes to the details.

It appears that the same task force recommended against routine screening for ovarian cancer for all women back in 2004. I don't know who's behind this Obamacare plan you speak of but I certainly admire his/her/their uncanny ability to plan ahead.

Yeah I heard some politician on TV last night spouting a new report about how Americans WAY overuse mammograms and prostate cancer testing.....This is how you report "you can't get mammograms or prostate cancer tests anymore"

You'll be happy to know that, as of 2008, the task force is officially on the fence regarding screening for prostate cancer (unless you're over 75 in which case you're screwed).

I am merely pointing out that "the decision should be up to the doctor based on the individual's history and genetics" and "SHOULD MEANS NO COVERAGE" is quite the retarded leap to make.

They're saying that routine scans are not a neccesity for women between 40-49 and that it's up to the doctor to decide whether the individual needs a test. It changes "routine scan" with "doctor's decission". This is not hard to grasp.

The scientists have been looking at this for a long time. This is not President Obama screwing with your health care. This is not the insurance lobby trying to take health care away from people. This advice is transparent scientists making recommendations based on data.

This has NOTHING TO DO WITH OBAMA!

This has to do with reviewing research and finding that while mammograms have saved the lives of women 40-49, it also resulted in a lot of women going through unnecessary surgaries, having breast removed without need, going through radiation without need, etc. This is HARMFUL. The high numbers of false positives have to do with the density of younger women's breasts. The bottom line dictate in healthcare is to do what causes the least harm. So, the reccomendation is for women without risk factors, only, that its better to wait. The decision is that this will cause the least overall harm.

Some people tend to focus in solely on President Obama as opposed to focusing on the real problem, which is the increasingly popular idea that the government can do a better job taking care of you than you can. I think luns put it well, if sarcastically.

First of all, I don't agree that the government will do a better job than insurance executives. History does not bear this out.

Second, you're thinking of the lesser of two evils, instead of thinking outside the box and wondering if there other ways to fix healthcare in the United States. I've put forward numerous other ideas in other threads that might be helpful and do not involve vast government power over yet another industry. That's the problem in the United States right now: when we identify a problem, we no longer look to ourselves to fix the problem, we look to the government to fix the problem. And before you say, "We are the government," I urge you to think about the effect you have on your legislatures and president.
