BBC Sports Personality of the Year

The Nominees:
Jenson Button
Mark Cavendish
Tom Daley
Jessica Ennis
Ryan Giggs
David Haye
Phillips Idowu
Andy Murray
Andrew Strauss
Beth Tweddle
This is just a thread to give your opinion, who you think should win, who you think should of been nominated, who you think shouldnt of been. Personally I'm not sure Murray, Daley or Idowu really should be there, but I'm sure many would disagree.

I'm guessing Button will win, maybe Haye and Ennis coming 2nd and 3rd. I have no idea why Haye is suddenly a big sportstar here, hes world champion, but the fight that he won on points was absolutely terrible.

I bet only half the population could name someone else he's fought on the way to becoming world champion.

Half the population? That optimistic. I doubt 10% could even name the other guy in the fight.

How can you have only heard of 3 of them? Which 3 btw?
Also, Ferguson does not have a personality

I'd like to see Ennis win, but I don't think she will. Always been an Idowu fan so I'd be happy if he won. I'm 90% sure Button will get it though.

I votes Idowu, he really deserves it after his efforts at the WC this year. I think Ennis' time will come, she has a good long future ahead of her (btw, shes really hot

). Can't see anyone but Button winning it though, only thing that might go against him is that he peaked at the beginning of the season and fizzled out at the end so fewer people may remember his domination.

my vote goes to Mark Cavendish. unstoppable in the sprints at Le Tour de France this year. next year definetly Green jersey winner.
I know Jenson Button will probably piss it. Andy Murray won 6 tour titles this year, that is more than any other male tennis player this year. Phillips Idowu World Champion and a great personality. just look at the amount of times he dyes his hair.

I watched Tom Daley win his World title on BBC, it was great seeing the 2 leaders cock-up their last dives. he's was only 15 at the time, so hats off.

Button, Giggs and Murray... Although that said, Strauss rings a bell, think they go on about him on Sky Sports News when they've covered the footy and drift off into the less intersting sports.
It's not about actual personality though is it, it's about success...

strauss has had a great year.. he is in with a shout. still think they will give it to button tho.
murray will probably only ever get it the year he wins wimbers. btw was anyone else watching the tour finals recently noticing how little support for him there was?

they didn't rally around him as much as i thought they would. if only his percentage of 1st serves were better.
predictions. 1st Button. 2nd Idowu. 3rd Haye
I know why Giggs is there, but he is not the main threat from Man Ure or even their best player of the year. so you shouldn't put him in for life acheivment.

Why don't you think Murray should be there? I would prefer Murray win, but I suspect Buttton will, which I'm ok with. I like Button winning, mostly though because I can't stand the other F1 guy. The other British F1 driver, I forget his name, but I can't stand him.

Yer, Hamilton's a cock, I don't like him either. I'm not the greatest gymnastics follower but I don't remember her ever looking amazing.

I'd like to see Tom Daley win, superb composure from the young 'un.
The Engalnd cricket team will win the team prize and Elin Woods will win the overseas one, her three iron has improved no end........

well my predictions were fucked up. who would of beleived Giggs to win, he wasn't even Man Ure best player. a life time acheivment in a few years would of been appropriate. Haye not even top 3.
I thought it quite emotional when Seve received his
Life time acheivment award from Olly.

Didn't actually watch it, but wtf, Giggs? How did he win the Sports Personality of the Year? I loved the Bolt/Federer montage though, that was awesome.
