if you or your partner were expecting a child and perish the thought, you found out that the child would be in some way disabled mentally or physically. and not just mildly. would you abort the pregnancy?

i most certainly would. as a father myself i have to say that babies are hard graft and quite boring. having to do everything for someone all the time must be extremely draining and the lack of communication, fustrating.

i respect people that do give their lives up to look after severely disabled people but it wouldn't be for me.

I would certainly have struggled to cope and Im pretty sure me and the wife would have agreed to abort in such circumstances.

Yer, probably the same. Might be because I'm still young and not married, but the thought of that would probably be just too much.

I known a family that son is totally mentally challenged .He in a wheelchair . He is blind and
has a mentality of a 1 year old though hes prob around 30 .One day we had to get water for church and I Steve asked about life with his son."I was I heard that life hard having a handicapped son, how do you handle it all.He told me that yes it was difficult but "dave" , not the kid real name , has been a blessing and they could of not imagine life without him.He
bring joy to their family and raising Dave has been a reward in itself.
I been around dave at church and I known his family before I sttarted going to this
particular church.He is always happy and making noise.Its amazing how
much joy he has brought to the church and the people around him in church and
out of church.Thinking about it , it would of been a shame if he was aborted bc he
would of had handicapped.
I believe every human has the right to live to see their potential whether that potential
is to be an astronaut or just sitting their in a chair.We cant always measure a person
by achievement or other man made measurement.Sometimes people add to society '
in other way.I believe Dave has better society by just being .

Do I want it to happen to one of my potential children? Of course not. I would not ask my wife to have an abortion, however.

I wouldn't have the heart to abort. If they have the chance to be happy in their life, whether disabled or not, it'd be my job as a parent to make it so that they can.

Before my wife could even decide I would kick her down a flight of stairs, and while she was incapacitated I would shove a fistful of abortion pills down her throat.

And if she was still pregnant, I'm sure she would no longer want to have my baby anyways. It's the perfect plan for aborting!

But it doesn't solve the problem of "what if she decides to press charges and I go to prison and get F'ed in the A several times a day by big black men!!"

It still beats having an unwanted child!

It's a tough question for most people, no doubt. My answer would simply be "I wouldn't know until I was actually in that situation" because just as with almost all difficult decisions...it's easy to SAY one thing,j but all the considerations you ponder when the reality of such a situation hits will be a very different perspective. Sometimes you do things in extreme situations that amaze even yourself (both positively and negatively).
