Galactic Alliance II – Mixed Quadruples
All hail The Tamriel Alliance - Rulers of the Galaxy
Well played saraith, Pander88UK, Hopscotcher, IrishAnnie
After the Galactic Federation were seriously weakened by the Andomedan War, the Earth Alliance resulted triumphant amongst a number of alliances vying to take control of the Galaxy. However, in the aftermath of Galactic Civil War, their tenure is under threat as rival groups have gathered their tatterred fleets and consolidated their armoury.
Before the Earth Alliance have time to impose themselves as the doiminant Galactic power, another Galactic war threatens to disturb the heavens.
This is a Quadruples tournament, with 6 teams (24 players in total). If recruitment shows major interest very quickly then I may expand to 12 teams (with an initial planetary warfare stage where two alliances battle for planetary control).
The Alliances
As each planet’s alliance combines the forces of empires of varying military strength, each team must be a mix of players as follows:
- (1) Maximum of two players >2000 points.
(2) Maximum of 8 quadruples medals amongst the team (bronze counts as 1 medal, silver 2, gold 3).
Players should join as a team (although players are welcome to post if they wish to arrange an alliance themselves, or to be a reserve). When posting to join, each team member’s points total and quads medal status should also be posted. Status at time of sign-up is only relevant - any changes in rank/achievement of medals after sign-up do not affect eligibility.
Each team should also indicate where their alliance is based:
- 1 Planet Earth* - Selected
2 Tamriel - Selected
3 Draknor - Selected
4 Midkemdil - Selected
5 Midgard - Selected
6 Volcanus** - Selected
7 Discworld - Neutral Planet
** The map for this planet is known as Archipelago
Freemiums beware – up to 3-games-at-a-time. If a player fails to join a game or deadbeats, (s)he will be replaced by an emergency reserve ‘novice’.
Details:
Initial Battles of the Galactic War:
Two groups of three teams (determined by random.org)
Three planets will each attempt to infiltrate and conquer another planet to develop their power.
Each team will therefore play 2 matches (1 attacking another planet, and one defending their own – again, determined by random.org).
Two planets will survive.
In the event that all three planetary alliances are successful in one battle then the planets surviving this phase of the Galactic Civil War will be determined by the last two surviving in an attempt made by all 3 to subjugate and control a neutral planet*. Two members of each alliance will join this battle.
*The neutral planet will be the planet not selected by any of the 6 teams.
Secondary Battles of the Galactic War:
Winners of each group will play the runners-up from the other group, best-of-3.
Alliances select their home planet from those controlled at the end of the previous stage.
In order to gain further power and supremacy, surviving alliances will attempt to take control of one another’s planets as well as one of the former Federation’s two Command Centre Computer Complexes - huge systems, each controlling many aspects of the galactic colonies, even the climate of several planets. Developed from centuries of study of the human brain, the complexes are otherwise known as 8 Thoughts.
Ultimate Battles of the Galactic War:
The two semi-final winning teams will play one another, again, best-of-3.
Alliances select their home planet from those controlled at the end of the previous stage.
With the Federation failing to re-establish its power, the remaining alliances will attempt to defeat one another’s base planet and gain control of the galaxy (Space Map).
The winners of these battles will have established enough power to gain control as a new Galactic Alliance.
Match Options
Spoiler
Matches will be Quadruples (obviously) and Sequential.
Matches will also involve No Spoils and Chained Reinforcements.
Initial battles will be Sunny. However, secondary and ultimate battles will involve Fog of War. This is due to the development of advanced anti-scanner ‘blocking’ devices and the interference created by the fall-out from the initial battles.

Spoiler
There will be 18 players.
Players must have a 97% attendance record, have played a minimum 25 matches, and not have dropped out from one of my tournaments previously! Freemiums welcome, although beware that the tournament starts as soon as we have enough players and 3-games-at-a-time.
Players will have 24 hours to join their matches from when the joining PM is sent. Failure to do so will result in a reserve being sought (harsh, I know).
