I do not use the word

Any I love New York fans out there? Remember when that guy from central america called New York "bonita negrita" which meant "black and beautiful"? She threw a fit and sent his ass home that night. Even though her Spanish speaking "servant" tried to talk her out of it, saying "this is a huge compliment where we are from" she said "nu-uh, he said the n word, his ass is OUTTA HERE!"

Despite the obscure reference to a horrible show that I happened to watch because I was bored with my life, not if you're speaking English. The connotation of the word is different depending on the language.

my point was the impact of it even being mentioned, no matter the context which in this case, seemed to me like one of the most acceptable connotations

Why would you? Just use an acceptable one.

Its so damn easy. Its the same premise of not greeting people and saying "Hi big guy". Maybe they will get offended, and maybe they wont...but at some point, you're gonna get a punch in the face.

I remember a friend doing it at a gas station. Fill it up big guy!

I was amazed we didnt drive away with diesel in the tank instead of gas.

My point is, a phrase doesnt even have to be that bad to offend people...so just use the ones that dont...and negro, is certainly one that might offend...bordering on probably will every single time.

Just because sam jackson makes it sound cool as hell...does not mean you can.

I think most people prefer "male with overactive pituitary gland" to "big guy"

Some may get offended so best not use the word when referring to black people.

I'm not being provocative, I just never heard of that.

People call me big guy all the time when they don't know my name, because I'm built like a linebacker. I was unaware that I should have been offended at this.

Also, a lot of my black friends call me big guy too, and not in the sarcastic way. Am I completely missing something here?

My nickname at work is "Big ___." I'm built more like a defensive end than a linebacker, but I'm not offended by "big guy."

If the person is 5'8" and 350 pounds, big guy might engender some anger. In that case, you should just slowly jog away.

Let's stop dwelling on the analogy, I'll just make a better one. It would be somewhat like going up to a random woman and saying "what's up, bitch." It's stupid, don't do it.

But how else are we going to thoroughly derail another race baiting thread? Frigidus, you were doing so well. Please, give us more analogies to argue about, since the topic of this thread has been hashed out and misinterpreted so many times it's more fun to just derail this sort of thing.
