What do you think about a truce in a 5 players game? Is it fair?
Do you consider it?
If you're not making the truce, how do you react?

Making truces is ok. However you shouldn't enter a truce unless you're sure it will benefit you. Sometimes people who are in a bind will try to confuse you with words because a truce would benefit them (but not you).
Also make sure the terms of the truce are clearly defined. Never make a truce you can't back out of if necessary. If you make a border truce, make sure it's clearly defined which territories are part of the truce. Also make sure the duration of the truce is known to both parties.
Breaking truces is not considered good conduct, but some do it anyway, and it's not exactly against the rules, although frowned upon. You may wish to check the other player's profile and ratings before entering a truce... If he has a history of breaking truces it is likely to show up on his ratings or wall.

I'm assuming that this is a no cards or flat rate 5 player singles game. I guess people make them. In escalating games there is no need for this sort of thing. So if you don't mind truces then this style of game is ok for you. If you don't like truces then you should probably stick to escalating games and leave the no spoils for 1v1 and team games.
I thought that this was a little bit more constructive of a response than just saying yes or no. Truces are ok in certain game types and settings and you can choose to play those games and settings or not.

I partially disagree... ever play escalating world 2.1? It's nothing like escalating on small/medium maps, at least in the beginning of game. I've seen some short (2-3 round) truces made in 2.1 esc.
